Who you are

3+ years of product design experience
A portfolio showcasing impactful product design work, including your end-to-end product design process
Proactive, clear communication skills (written and verbal) with experience collaborating in remote teams

What the job involves

We’re working with over 30 utilities across the US and Canada, optimizing EV charging to balance grid loads. You’ll lead the design process for your squad from concept to launch, rolling out configurable smart charging programs globally
You'll enhance the end-to-end experience for utilities and end users across mobile and web, creating delightful interactions
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across product and engineering, primarily based on the East Coast of the US and Canada
You’ll be part of a team of 5 designers, reporting to the design manager. The team is collaborative, supportive, and fun, all working remotely
This is a fixed term role to cover maternity leave within the team until December 2025
Leading the design process independently from discovery to launch, delivering smart charging solutions
Enhancing the user experience of utility programs across mobile and web, improving satisfaction and engagement
Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, program management, and customer support, on design strategies aligned with company goals
Contributing to the design team by sharing knowledge and mentoring peers while learning from others

Our take

Properly managing electric vehicle charging is critical to a low carbon future. With a growing numbers of EV rolling out over the world, ev.energy is tackling the unique set of pain points that exists for EV users.

The company has created an easy-to-use app to support users with each EV charging session. The app optimises and schedules charging times relative to grid demand, helping EV owners avoid peak tariffs, save money, prevent over-congestion on the grid and use the greenest electricity possible.

Strategic moves, such as a 2022 partnership struck with Easee, combining ev.energy's software with Easee's domestic chargers, indicate the company's continuous work to optimise user experience. while maximising the use of renewable energy. A Hypervolt charging station partnership in 2025, and a California Energy Commission grant of $41 million in 2024 show that ev.energy will remain a major player in the green energy software market.
