- Proven experience in a senior people role, ideally in a fast-growing, founder-led or PE-backed business
- HR generalist with depth in people operations, systems, compliance, and employee relations
- Strong coaching capability and a deep understanding of how to build leadership strength across an organisation
- Experience managing change, ambiguity, and scaling people functions during periods of transformation
- High emotional intelligence with outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
- Bias for action, you're decisive, solutions-oriented, and focused on outcomes
- A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and commercial understanding of how great people practices drive business success

What the job involves
- As Head of People, your goal will be to shape how we engage, grow and unlock every team member’s potential
- Reporting into the Chief of Staff, you will work closely with the CEO and wider senior leadership team as a trusted partner, advising on a range of topics to drive performance and outstanding employee experience
- Partner with leaders to define and evolve the future of work at MOTORS & Cazoo, supporting org design, leadership capability, and change readiness
- Shape a high-performance culture where feedback, autonomy, recognition, and wellbeing are front and centre
- Ensure people systems (e.g. HRIS, payroll, benefits, reporting) are optimised for accuracy, scale, and great employee experience
- Continuously improve policies, practices, and frameworks across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance, clarity, and accessibility
- Coach, challenge and support leaders across the business to model behaviours and develop high-performing teams
- Lead internal talent planning and succession strategies to identify and develop future leaders
- Support recruitment efforts, ensuring speed, quality, and consistency in how we hire and onboard
- Evolve and amplify our employer brand, making sure we attract, retain, and grow top talent who believe in our mission
