Who you are
- Ideal candidates should have an entrepreneurial spirit, be highly collaborative, organized + detail-oriented
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, with a proven track record in a leadership role, ideally within the policy or research sector
- Strong understanding of sales strategies, marketing principles, and digital marketing tools
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams cross-functionally, manage multiple projects, and work collaboratively across departments
- Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools

- We are looking for an experienced Marketing Director to lead go-to-market strategy for Pro Policy and Pro Deals during an exciting period of business transformation!

- In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and executing initiatives that enhance brand awareness, strengthen our market position, and drive revenue growth
- You will work closely with cross-functional teams to hone our value proposition and deliver it to the right professional audience
- Strategy Development: Develop and execute marketing strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market share. Align strategies with overall business objectives
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and developments in the competitive landscape and apply them to go-to-market strategy
- Campaign Management: Design, implement, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive Qualified Leads, purchase consideration, and client engagement
- Content Marketing: Develop programming and content that represents the product, including webinars, whitepapers, and sample newsletters
- Sales Enablement: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and provide tools, resources, and training that support their efforts. Create compelling sales collateral, presentations, and promotional materials
- Client Engagement: Build relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Leverage client feedback to refine offerings, enhance the overall client experience, and increase retention
- Brand Management: Oversee brand positioning and messaging to ensure consistency across all marketing channels and alignment within the broader Axios portfolio. Enhance Pro’s visibility and reputation in the industry
- Manage sponsorship of and presence at industry conferences and events
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost-efficiency. Track expenditures and measure ROI for marketing activities
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead initiatives across Marketing, Product, News, and Sales, fostering communication and a collaborative, high-performance work environment. Set clear objectives and provide guidance to achieve team goals
Our take
Axios is a digital news site covering business, tech, politics, and media trends, with a focus on smart and efficient coverage. Much like rival comparable sites The Economist and Politico, it’s also diversified its media to include podcasts, newsletters, and a mobile app. Whilst it remains a major national and international news outlet, it’s also pursuing a new avenue to help shore up its position: local news.
Local news outlets have been in sharp decline over recent years: it’s too costly, with too little revenue. Axios’ plan is to opt instead for local newsletters. They’re highly advertiser-friendly, and the model itself is exceptionally scalable. So Axios may succeed where traditional efforts by other outlets like The Huffington Post (and countless local outfits) have failed.
Axios was previously held up as an exception to the mergers and acquisitions other news outlets were having to undergo to weather the decline of print media. However, in order to fund the expansion into local news, Axios has been acquired by the global conglomerate (and previous investor in the company) Cox Enterprises. This is good news - Cox Enterprises owns and protects local newspapers in Ohio, and looks set to be a hands-off and values-aligned new Axios owner.
