Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or related fields
- Proven track record of managing external PR agencies and executing global PR campaigns
- A strong network of media contacts in technology, finance, and/or cryptocurrency sectors is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about Bitcoin and blockchain technology
What the job involves
- We are looking for a highly organized and strategic Public Relations Manager to join our Marketing & Communications team
- This role will be responsible for managing all external public relations activities, including sourcing and coordinating with PR agencies worldwide, ensuring consistent messaging, and driving proactive media coverage of Blockstream’s innovations and leadership in Bitcoin
- This is a unique opportunity to shape Blockstream’s voice in the public sphere, working closely with internal stakeholders and external PR partners
- You'll develop and execute Blockstream’s PR strategy in partnership with leadership
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with global PR agencies and external partners
- Serve as the primary liaison between Blockstream and PR agencies to align priorities and campaigns
- Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media kits, and thought leadership content
- Secure media coverage by building relationships with journalists, publications, and influencers in the Bitcoin, fintech, and tech sectors
- Monitor media trends, track coverage, and prepare reports on PR campaign effectiveness
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to ensure accurate and compelling representation of Blockstream in public communications

Bitcoin’s blockchain shows great potential to form the future foundation of financial infrastructure. However, working in advanced areas such as Bitcoin mining, asset issuance, and the Lightning Network goes beyond the fundamental framework, and requires expensive assistance from blockchain engineers. Blockstream develops technology to make it easier for businesses and individuals to make use of the Bitcoin blockchain, opening it up to a wider range of users.
Blockstream's offerings include tech to help people utilize advanced technology within the Bitcoin blockchain, including microtransactions on the Lightning Network, enterprise-class Bitcoin miner hosting, and layer-2 digital asset issuance. The company also provides Blockstream Satellite, a technology that leverages satellites to stream blockchain transactions without the internet, preventing them from being disrupted by connection loss.
Whilst the technology Blockstream is facilitating access to already exists, the company has smartly recognized the inaccessibility of its advanced features, and found its niche in providing an easier way to work with the technology.
