Proven track record of extensive experience with .NET Core development for designing and building scalable and performant web applications
Strong communication skills to articulate architectural decisions and solutions
Strong proficiency in MongoDB database design and administration
Hands-on experience in designing and implementing microservices architecture using .NET Core
Proven track record of decomposing monolithic applications into microservices for enhanced scalability and maintainability
Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in .NET Core applications
Upper-Intermediate English and Russian: both written and spoken
A data-driven approach. Ability to justify decisions using concrete metrics

What the job involves

Lead and improve the system's code and architecture to provide greater efficiency, platform’s performance and innovation
Scalability and Performance: Develop strategies to enhance Smartcat's system scalability and performance, ensuring it meets the growing demands of the user base
Codebase Enhancement: Drive improvements in the codebase, implementing best practices to enhance readability, maintainability, and overall code quality
Process Optimization: Establish and refine architecture processes and practices, streamlining workflows to ensure efficiency, consistency, and a seamless integration of architectural changes into the development lifecycle
Monolith Codebase Decomposition: Lead the strategic initiative to dissect Smartcat's monolithic architecture, facilitating the transition towards a more modular and scalable system

The rise of eCommerce has provided fertile ground for brands to globalize their business operations and reach customers around the world, yet language barriers can prevent such progress. Tools such as Google Translate facilitate the quick translation of most major languages, but these results are often not grammatically correct, requiring the expensive services of professional translators to ensure every translation is perfect.

Smartcat provides an AI-driven translation platform for businesses, allowing them to translate online business content professionally to facilitate brand globalization. The company achieves this by leveraging AI to match businesses with language professionals who specialize in specific content areas, whilst also providing a translation management and payment automation system.

Whilst there is no denying that ever-improving free online translation services will present obstacles for Smartcat, the company recognizes that the results from such solutions are not sufficiently accurate for professional online content. As such, it believes it has a comfortable niche to operate within, benefiting from its place in the roughly $50 billion translation industry.
