Who you are
- 5+ years in product management, with meaningful time as a growth PM on consumer (D2C) mobile and/or web products
- Track record shipping and iterating on funnel, conversion, or activation work; you can speak to user and business impact with numbers
- Strong experimentation practice: hypothesis design, A/B tests, interpreting results, and killing or doubling down based on data
- Fluency with product analytics (Mixpanel, Looker, or similar) and funnel/cohort analysis
- Clear written and verbal communication when scope is still fuzzy; can prioritize by customer value, business impact, and effort
- Strong cross-functional partner to engineering, design, marketing, and data
- Uses AI in your PM workflow today, or ready to adopt it here
- Self-motivated, analytical, comfortable owning outcomes end to end

What the job involves
- Stash is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own Discovery: the product surfaces where people first decide Stash is for them, sign up, and take the steps that turn interest into an activated customer
- You'll work where Marketing story meets product experience: landing into the app, progressive disclosure of value, and the early journeys that drive signups, and in turn, first deposits and activation. You'll report to the Head of Product and partner closely with Design, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and Compliance
- This is a growth PM role. You will run experiments, read funnels, and ship iterations that compound
- Own roadmap and delivery for Discovery across web and mobile: signup, early onboarding entry points, and the product moments that convert and activate
- Design and iterate on product-led growth mechanisms (referrals, shareable moments, milestone cues, trust-building for first-time investors) where they belong in Discovery
- Define success metrics, instrument funnels, and run ongoing A/B tests; use Mixpanel, Looker, and cohort analysis to decide what to ship next
- Write PRDs Design and Engineering can build from; partner on flows, scope, and tradeoffs under ambiguity
- Align product narrative with Marketing so ads, landing, Discovery UX, and onboarding feel like one story
- Ship in a regulated consumer fintech environment; partner with compliance and legal to move fast within guardrails
- Use AI tools in day-to-day PM work (drafting PRDs, synthesizing feedback, exploring data and options)
- Keep your manager, team, and stakeholders aligned on progress, risks, and decisions
Our take
Founded in 2015, Stash was created in response to studies showing that 44% of Americans don’t invest in stocks, 70% of households don’t have a long-term financial plan, and 68% are afraid to retire. Stash offers beginner retail investors the tools to invest small amounts in stocks and exchange-traded funds. It aims to help new investors learn the ropes, offering preference-tailored guidance and digestible investment summaries.
Its service, although pricier than competitors like Wealthfront and Acorns, remains competitive through its highly educational and beginner-friendly focus. This is a lucrative feature for Stash, given the recent surge in first-time and amateur retail investors. The company has more than 6 million customers, and its assets under management total about $3 billion.
Its focus on long-term profit over day trading is refreshing in the retail investment app market. It could prove especially attractive to its younger customer base (average age 29), who are on the whole trending away from traditional legacy banking and looking towards new, innovative financial platforms.
Stash was not immune to the market turmoil of 2022, which particularly impacted the fintech sector, and was forced to restructure. Having streamlined the business, it received major funding and a leadership change in 2023. Stash is now setting its sights on an acquisition or public offering in the near future.
