Role
Who you are
- 6-10 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, equity research, private equity, or corporate development with a preference for A&D or Tech Industries
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA, CFA is a plus)
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, startup environment paired with exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, investor relations, and/or M&A transactions including valuation, financial modeling, and due diligence
- Strong financial modeling and valuation experience, with the ability to build robust, dynamic models for strategic planning and scenario analysis
- Deep knowledge of corporate finance and/or capital markets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability and desire to collaborate cross-functionally
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office application suite
What the job involves
- As the Strategic Finance Manager at True Anomaly, you will report to the Director of Finance and help drive long-range planning and play a critical role in fundraising, investor relations, and M&A.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams and the FP&A Manager, you will evaluate investment opportunities across True Anomaly’s capital stack and guide leadership in making high-impact, data-driven decisions to help scale the organization
- Partner with the Director of Finance in evaluation of opportunities and deployment of capital across organic and inorganic investment opportunities:
- Drive analysis and understanding of strategic opportunities including mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships ensuring alignment with company objectives
- Prepare materials and present findings / recommendations to Senior and Executive Leadership, and where necessary the Board of Directors and investors
- Investor Relations and Fundraising:
- Prepare and maintain materials such as recurring and one-off investor updates and company overview materials
- Support fundraising efforts, including equity and debt financing, by preparing detailed analysis, developing investor materials, managing due diligence, and engaging in investor conversations
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and valuation assessments to build and maintain understanding of our competitive landscape as well as to identify and evaluate growth opportunities
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, BD, and Programs) to drive corporate-level financial planning and capital allocation processes to support growth initiatives and resource prioritization
- Maintain True Anomaly’s long-term financial model and accompanying long-range plan living document to guide leadership in strategic decision-making and scenario analysis
- Forecast and analyze key performance metrics, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for financial and operational improvement
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and one-off Board of Directors meeting materials
- Prepare and deliver ad-hoc analysis to support dynamic strategic decisions such as new business opportunities, customer / market shifts, or operational risks, ensuring timely and actionable insight
Our take
True Anomaly is a space tech startup composed of former military operators and engineers. The Colorado-based company is focused on building spacecraft and software solutions designed to secure U.S. commercial and military interests in space. It has already developed a fully-integrated platform with seamless satellite, navigation, and data-capture technologies that provide security and training for the quickly evolving space market.
Founded in 2022, True Anomaly has already designed its first spacecraft, the Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle, which can be used to train operators on the ground or as intelligence-gathering tools against adversarial spacecraft. Alongside this, the startup has built a 35,000-square-foot facility in Denver to manufacture the Jackals and hired a team of close to 60 people.
With impressive capital gained at the end of 2023, the company validated the Jackal's technical and operational capabilities and made the necessary investments to scale production. Despite this healthy injection of funding, it still had to streamline staff in spring 2024, but is looking leaner and more agile for it, planning to partner with Firefly Aerospace to launch The Jackal in 2025.
