Role
Who you are
- We're seeking passionate engineers who are excited about building robust, data-rich systems that simplify complex compensation processes at scale
- Success in this role requires strong systems thinking and the ability to drive large, complex initiatives across the organization
- 2+ years of full-time backend engineering experience building data intensive applications, ideally utilizing modern web technologies such as TypeScript and Node.js
- Strong computer science fundamentals and familiarity with modern design patterns
- Experience with data infrastructure, pipelines/ETLs, and data modeling; exposure to ML/AI workflows is a plus
- Execution-oriented. You thrive in fast-paced environments and bias toward action
- Growth mindset. Eager to learn new technologies and problem domains
What the job involves
- The R&D organization encompasses engineering, product, design, data science, and security. We’re a high performing team that moves between ideation, scoping, and execution in a matter of days. Everyone on the team has high agency to design, experiment, and build great software in partnership with our pre-sales and post-sales teams, and our clients
- Our stack is React, TypeScript, Node.js, MySQL, and BigQuery hosted on GCP
- The Core Platform team sits at the center of Pave Engineering, bridging product and platform engineering. We build the foundational services, APIs, and abstractions that enable every team to ship enterprise-grade software with speed and confidence
- In this role, you’ll own critical services like user authentication and authorization, as well as the foundational data infrastructure and models powering Pave’s compensation intelligence platform
Our take
Compensation survey and merit cycle processes are integral to so many businesses, and yet remain time-consuming manual activities. Staff often lack financial training resulting in spreadsheet induced errors. Pave saw a need to update and streamline the process.
The core advantage of Pave is its ease of integration with HRIS, ATS and cap table software, creating real-time compensation data views without the need for spreadsheets. Using the software creates a fair and transparent system that management can rely on and employees can respect. The company has seen strong momentum, with backing from big names like Y Combinator and az16.
Some organisations have been reluctant to adopt solutions like Pave’s on account of the radical transparency it provides. However, with companies like Credit Karma, Miro and Discord all signing on, Pave has proven its ability to draw lucrative enterprise-level clients. It also became a Unicorn in 2022 after an impressive Series C funding round, boding well for its longevity.
