Who you are
- Strong communication skills
- Proven track record of building successful web applications, with a focus on backend, services & infrastructure
- Solid understanding of at least one Python-based backend framework (Django, FastAPI, Flask)
- Solid DevOps and infrastructure knowledge (Terraform, Docker, AWS)
- Experience with integrating third-party APIs and interfaces
- Experience with deploying, integrating and fine-tuning AI models (managed services & self-hosting)
- Experience with working in a highly dynamic early-stage startup
- Pragmatic, hands-on mentality
- Willingness to learn and experiment
Desirable
- In-depth experience with speech-to-text models
- MLOps experience
- Experience with React/Next.js
What the job involves
- As a Senior Software / AI Engineer, you’ll join a small team of seasoned experts, building our systems as we scale up. You’ll be able to shape the team and its culture, and take on responsibility from day one
- Discover and deliver our product as part of the Product & Engineering team
- Design, develop, deploy and operate our applications
- Architect, integrate & refine AI workflows, using cutting-edge speech-to-text and large language models
- Be involved in architectural and infrastructure decision-making
Our take
Predicting AI as the most significantly growing tech field of this century, Merantix aims to apply machine learning to sectors that can benefit most from it. After a robust, highly selective vetting process, Merantix identifies founders and collaborates to provide support and funding to scale their businesses. The company integrates all areas of AI, building a complete talent pipeline and fund for venture scaling. Successful examples include Vara, SiaSearch, and Cambrium.
Merantix differentiates itself from typical venture capital firms through its approach. While most VCs invest in established businesses, spreading funds across many companies and taking losses while focusing on winners, Merantix tries to pick winners at the earliest stage.
The launch of an AI Campus in 2021 significantly increased the company's ecosystem, allowing it to explore new fields. Through strategic partnerships with SoftBank and the AI City project in Dubai, Merantix is growing. It has incubated ten successful startups so far and aims to produce even more in the coming years. Merantix is raising a new €100 million fund to co-invest in startups, marking its largest fund yet. This fund will be allocated to co-investing in external startups, investing in incubated startups, and supporting existing investments.
