Who you are
- This position is ideal if you're completing your degree and searching for an end-of-studies internship, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position if Shift is the right fit for you!
- You have a master’s degree in either Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research (a knowledge in machine learning and/or Big Data is a plus)
- You have experience in object-oriented programming
- You combine strong analysis with synthesis abilities and are not afraid to deal with the details
- You can write quality production code
- You are comfortable dealing with clients
- You can communicate clearly in English
- French is mandatory at a fluent level

What the job involves
- Are you looking for an end-of-studies internship starting between July and September 2025, where you can sharpen your programming skills and solve real-life problems?

- At Shift Technology, the Data Science team works on a wide range of subjects and plays a key role in the development of our suite of products, including fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and claim automation
- We bring strong technical expertise in data science, data engineering, coding, business understanding, and client interactions
- Additionally, we work with diverse data types, such as structured data, free text, documents, and images
- As a member of the Data Science team, and working closely with our technical experts, your role will be critical in deploying our solutions for clients
- Setting up and deploying data processing pipelines, such as data reception (batch or real-time), data cleaning, information extraction, and calibration of fraud detection models
- Collaborating with clients to understand their needs and incorporating their feedback to enhance our solutions
- Conducting R&D to drive product innovation (machine learning, NLP, image analysis, trend analysis, chatbots, etc.)
- Supporting the sales team by participating in prospect demos

Our take
The global insurtech market is projected to grow substantially given the increased demand for insurance service digitisation, projected market expansion, and developments in technology that have made it easier to buy and process claims. Insurtech helps create new avenues that large insurance companies have less incentive to pursue, such as offering social insurance and customised policies for clients.
In January 2021, Shift Technology introduced the Shift Insurance Suite to help the insurance industry apply AI-based decision automation and optimisation technology solutions. This addresses critical processes across the insurance policy lifecycle, as well as helps insurers to achieve faster, more accurate claims and policy resolutions.
Shift Technology is focusing on continuous deployment in the UK and the US, whilst exploring opportunities in Singapore, as it attempts to become an international player in the market. However, it must stave off a number of major competitors to do so, including Quantemplate, Slice and Neos.
