Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of industry professional software development experience, and a track record of building impactful products or systems
- Strong background and proven leadership in iOS development
- Experience in payment integrations, financial technology and payment processing standards. (preferred)
- Android development experience. (bonus)
- Dynamic, driven and hands-on, yet capable to multitask across functions
- Experience with mobile testing frameworks and services
- Passionate. You’re passionate about Lime's mission and micro mobility; you want to see cities transform to becoming people-centric and less polluted
What the job involves
- We are looking for an experienced iOS Engineer to join our Payments team and help us revolutionize the way people move around cities by building secure, seamless, and efficient payment experiences directly within our consumer-facing applications
- As a key member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain the core payment technology that powers millions of transactions globally for our users
- With our rapid global expansion, you’ll play a vital role in crafting highly scalable payment architecture systems that can process a massive volume of requests originating from our consumer apps
- You get an opportunity to work with a talented group of engineers, data scientists, designers and PMs who are passionate about creating innovative solutions for urban transportation and modern
- Identify, define, and strategically solve essential technical problems, including architecting and building highly scalable foundational platforms, spearheading new product initiatives, and revamping core application experiences
- Evaluate and provide clear reasoning for the technology and architecture choices made, as you will often be decider for these choices
- Lead the cross-functional collaboration with PMs, Engineers, Design, Data Scientists, Research, and Operations teams
- Mentor and guide other engineers on the team. Identify and develop future leaders
- Advise Lime’s management team on key technology adoption and process improvements
- Contribute to shaping overall engineering culture at the company
Our take
In recent years, electric-powered mobility companies have attracted an extraordinary amount of interest and funding, in part due to rising eco-friendly sentiment, and in part because of the race to "find the next Uber". Lime is one such company, that has rapidly scaled across multiple geographies to be a key player in the fight for market leadership.
Lime, along with its competitors, has had to grapple with regulation in many of its target markets, but nonetheless has steadily increased its footprint. Since its launch, the company has facilitated millions of trips, making it one of the biggest companies of its kind. Interestingly, the CEO has stated that "cars are our true business rivals—not other scooter companies", suggesting that its biggest business challenge will be to get families to give up their second cars.
With a presence that spans an impressive number of regions - most recently Lime has begun operating in Qatar - the company has cemented itself in the micromobility market, and stands to profit from the increasing popularity of these types of services. Across 2022, a substantial increase in ridership enabled Lime to achieve a "full profitable year", with suggestions it will pursue an IPO in the near future.
