What the job involves

  • The Senior Manager of Business Development will lead the development of new partnerships for TerraCycle’s Regulated Waste team in the Americas by initiating and maintaining a dialogue around TerraCycle’s offerings with marketing and sustainability stakeholders across industries and brands as well as managing and growing a team of Business Development Managers and Associates
  • Manage a team of high-volume transactional sales associates to ensure they are performing to the KPIs set forth by the commercial business leaders (VP and GM)
  • Work with senior team members to assist in scheduling high-level meetings and business development activities
  • Working closely with VP to train associate-level sales to develop consultative sales skills with a focus on outreach and high-volume pipeline management
  • Support associates as they build, maintain, and effectively manage a healthy sales pipeline of new business opportunities to deliver on ambitious growth targets
  • Develop and deliver client-specific presentations
  • Secure new business development partnerships for our service offerings
  • Work with new partners on pricing and finalization of contracts

Our take

In nature, any output is utilised for a different purpose, and waste does not exist. Unfortunately, humans do not operate this way, resulting in the production of an incredible amount of waste that has cause a global garbage crisis. Terracycle aims to eliminate the idea of waste, and become a global leader in recycling non-recyclable waste.

Terracycle believes the main cause of landfills is the expense associated with recycling. Thus, they are tackling this through their business model which offers free recycling programs, funded by conscientious manufacturers, brands, and retailers.

As well as making a real impact on the environment in processing "millions of kilos a month” of hard-to-recycle materials, TerraCycle is generating tens of millions of dollars in revenue. The sustainable waste management company is continuing to expand, with a focus on developing new partnerships moving forward, such as those with coffee-pod company Tassimo and compost companies to create zero-waste bags.
