- C/C++ application development (optimized code, data layout, robust access patterns)
- Low-level debugging skills (multi-threaded debugging, optimized code debugging, etc.)

- Knowledgeable about Windows APIs and Windows Kernel internals

What the job involves
- At Bungie, we build worlds that inspire friendships, and the Product Security Team exists to keep those worlds and our players safe
- As an Engineer focused on Game Security, you will design and maintain our anti-cheat protections and detections
- As you develop expertise in these systems, you’ll be a resource for our analysts and data scientists in their hunt for malefactors
- You’ll work with various customers and stakeholders to identify current and future security needs and workable solutions
- Our team is a resource for our gameplay engineers and designers, helping them ensure fair and honest gameplay
- Architect, develop, and maintain anti-cheat technology in our C/C++ game client(s)
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop and improve cheat detections
- Keep abreast of developments in the cybersecurity and OS development industries
- Develop and maintain relationships with external security partners
- Help come up with policies that improve our security landscape
Our take
As one of the leading video game companies in the US, Bungie’s former titles have included bestselling game franchises such as Halo and Destiny, marking it as a next-gen studio that is keeping its finger on the next-gen games console pulse.
Bungie scaled up in the early noughties thanks to an acquisition by Microsoft, leading to a period where Bungie made games for a variety of consoles. In 2022, it was bought by Sony for $3.6 billion, though it claims that it will still work across different platforms despite its owner’s lean towards PlayStation.
Indeed, Sony claims to have bought Bungie for its help in entering the live service games market. In return, Bungie will benefit by scaling up its team for new game and DLC releases. This is a promising direction, although it is worth noting that the underperformance of Destiny 2 has cast a few worries on the nature of Bungie's independent future.
