What the job involves
- The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Float’s cloud infrastructure and developer platform to ensure high performance, scalability, and security.
- This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, DevOps, and developer experience, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability, and operational excellence
- Build and maintain a robust and efficient infrastructure by designing, deploying, and managing services such as ECS, EKS, and RDS
- Enhance and maintain the continuous integration and delivery pipelines to improve developer productivity, deployment speed, and system stability
- Participate in the design and development of a world-class IDP that empowers the engineering organization with self-service infrastructure, tooling, and standardized workflows
- Enhance operational efficiency by developing and implementing automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with stringent controls over infrastructure creation and modification
- Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices by implementing and enforcing security measures across AWS environments and containerized applications
- Optimize cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability through continuous monitoring and targeted improvements
- Maintain adherence to AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices by effectively managing and troubleshooting cloud resources
- Identify and mitigate potential risks through regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and threat modeling
- Develop and maintain comprehensive security policies, procedures, and incident response plans tailored to cloud and container environments that also support various regulatory and compliance regimes (Such as PCI-DSS 4.0 and SOC2)
- Integrate cloud infrastructure and security best practices into development workflows by collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams
- Provide valuable input on design and application security by participating in architecture reviews and acting as a trusted partner for our stakeholders
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AWS cloud infrastructure and security
Our take
Traditional finance and internal expense processes are inefficient for companies. Spending on personal credit cards and filing receipts for reimbursement is a convoluted and complicated business practise. There needs to be a digital alternative to the historically laborious process of managing employee expenses.
Float is a fintech solution, built to simplify the inefficient internal expense processes. Rather than following the traditional method of spending on personal/corporate cards, filing expenses, and waiting for reimbursement - Float works by utilising technology that enables managers to allocate funds and approve expenses before purchases are made. The company also supports companies operating with remote workforces.
As the business world moves to become more international, companies will look to make their business spending as simple as possible. Float aims to develop its technology and cater to the challenge of company spending. It's $50 million C in credit financing will go some way to achieving its aims, all whilst expanding its business significantly.
