Role
Who you are
- 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience including controllership leadership, with a strong track record in high-growth, scaling environments; at least 3+ years in a senior finance leadership role at a clinical-stage or commercial biotech or pharma company
- Deep US GAAP and technical accounting expertise, with direct ownership of external audits and ICFR/internal controls
- Demonstrated track record owning the month-end close process end-to-end, leading external audits from planning through issuance, and managing treasury operations hands-on (not just supervisory)
- CPA required; Big Four or mid-tier public accounting background strongly preferred
- Experience managing a lean finance team; comfortable being both a manager and an individual contributor as the business demands
- Proven ability to build financial systems, processes, and controls from the ground up in a fast-moving environment
- Public-company finance experience strongly preferred - you have operated within the rigor of a publicly traded company (or led a company through becoming one) and know what it demands
- Builder mentality, high integrity, and the ability to earn trust quickly - the CFO’s most relied-upon operational partner in running the day-to-day of the finance organization

What the job involves
- As VP, Finance, you are Enveda’s operational finance leader - the person the CFO trusts to run the day-to-day of the finance organization
- This is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for owning accounting operations, financial reporting, and controllership end-to-end, while leading and growing a high-performing finance team
- You will report directly to the CFO and together ensure the company’s financial foundation is rigorous, accurate, and scalable as Enveda grows through its next phase of development
- Accounting Operations: Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process; ensure timeliness, accuracy, and GAAP compliance across all financial statements; maintain the general ledger, oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and consolidations
- Technical Accounting: Own complex areas critical to biotech including R&D and clinical trial expense accruals, stock-based compensation, leases, collaboration and licensing arrangements, revenue recognition, and equity/financing transactions; document positions in clear technical memos
- Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors; lead the annual financial statement audit from planning through issuance, including audit schedules, PBC requests, and management responses
- Treasury & Cash Management: Manage the company’s cash position, bank relationships, and investment accounts; oversee cash flow forecasting, wire approvals, and operating account controls; ensure clear visibility into the company’s liquidity runway at all times
- Financial Reporting & Internal Controls: Prepare accurate and timely internal financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for the CFO, executive team, and Board; design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment and accounting policies consistent with GAAP and SOX-readiness standards
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings (or coordinate with external advisors); manage R&D tax credits and all regulatory reporting requirements
- Systems & Infrastructure: Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and finance tools (ERP, expense management, procurement workflows); deploy AI strategically and responsibly; scale and modernize the finance tech stack to meet the demands of a growing clinical-stage biotech
- Vendor & External Advisor Management: Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers, and accounting consultants; hold vendors accountable to scope, budget, and timeline
- Team Leadership: Directly manage, develop, and retain the finance team; serve as the day-to-day mentor and primary resource for finance staff; build a high-performance culture within the function

Despite massive innovations in healthcare of late, drug discovery is still an arduous process, and a huge amount of the natural world remains unexplored for medicinal molecules. Enveda delivers a platform to rapidly probe for new medically active compounds, creating the world's "most diverse biologically annotated dataset of small molecules".
With Enveda's AI and ML-led technology, the chemical structure and biological activity of molecules can be assessed at speed and scale, using high-throughput experiments to generate the dataset that can be rapidly searched for new leads. This represents a breakthrough compared to the long and slow, classical drug discovery process which involves testing one molecule at a time.
Enveda has seen substantial funding that is cited to help progress multiple platform-derived molecules to the clinic, allowing the company to apply its discovery technology to the drug development stages - with targets including inflammation, fibrosis, and neurosensory disorders.
