Who you are
- You love hands-on coding and problem-solving.
- You have a startup mindset: You understand startup trade-offs and can move fast without over-engineering. You need to be comfortable with change and not having essay-length Jira tickets!
- You’re an expert with our tech stack: Advanced skills with Next.js, React, GraphQL are essential. Previous experience with Supabase, Vercel, and GCP would be beneficial but not essential
- You have some leadership experience: We expect this part of the role to grow over time, but for now, have some experience mentoring or leading other developers with an appetite for more in the future.
- You’re excited for AI: You understand the practical applications of LLMs (not just hype) and see how AI can improve personalisation in technology. This will form a large part of our 2025 roadmap
What the job involves
- Hands-on coding: You’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of development: plan, build, deploy, and iterate using Next.js, React, GraphQL, and Supabase.
- Architectural ownership: Shape a technical architecture that is robust, maintainable, and scalable (without over-engineering).s
- Technical leadership: Be the technical voice in major product and business decisions.
- Team and culture: As we grow, help define how our engineering team scales and foster a strong development culture.

Our take
The market for Special Educational Needs (SEN) support is growing, with rising demand for early intervention and more awareness of conditions like dyslexia. However, many children still remain undiagnosed, with 80% of dyslexic students alone finishing school without a diagnosis.
Talamo is addressing this gap by offering an accessible, tech-driven screening tool for schools and parents to identify dyslexia risk early, before offering targeted support. The research-driven company only launched in September 2024 and has grown to operate within 120 UK schools. Talamo continues to expand its reach, helping even more children unlock their potential whilst user reports indicate that its technology is even more accurate than what schools currently use.
As Talamo continues to grow, it is investing its resources into expanding its test range to ADHD, executive functioning and impulse control. In short, Talamo is shaping the future of education for children with SENs.
