Role
Who you are
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills
- An ability to multitask and move proactively between projects
- Experience working in a newsroom as either as a journalist or as part of an operations team is preferential but not a requirement
- Experience supporting newsroom operations, or managing complex editorial projects is preferential but not a requirement
- Proven experience recruiting, hiring, and supporting learning and development opportunities for newsrooms or similar
- Excellent people skills and an ability to work with multiple teams at multiple levels
- A passion for digital journalism
What the job involves
- Insider’s managing editors form part of our people and culture team and are responsible for the smooth running of the UK newsroom from a management and talent perspective
- This role reports directly to the managing editor and sits on the people and culture team
- Collaborate with our Senior Talent Acquisition & Operations Partner to ensure hiring and onboarding for Insider’s Fellowship (internship) Programme runs smoothly
- Manage newsroom logistics and planning such as holiday coverage, managing rotas and meeting reminders
- Track and support annual review processes
- Run internal editorial training based on team needs
- In collaboration with the International People team, lead on external DEI initiatives and partnerships at the direction of the managing editor
- Manage freelancer contracts, ensuring the correct process is being applied and work through any compliance issues with the International People team
- Handle and direct ad hoc daily requests from editorial
