Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or working in a trading operations role and working closely with technology teams
- Strong options market experience is required, with a solid understanding of options trading and market structure, including operational workflows and infrastructure
- Experience with equities markets is a nice to have
- Ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and test cases, and communicate them effectively to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with Jira and managing work through an agile or iterative development lifecycle
- Technical fluency with data querying and analysis tools (SQL, KDB), along with comfort using command-line tools and generative AI
- Strong communication skills and comfort working across technical and non-technical teams
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Product Manager to take charge of building and enhancing the operational tooling and external-facing member portal for IEX’s options exchange
- This role focuses on translating complex options market workflows into intuitive, reliable products for internal teams and external members
- Over time, the scope may expand to support broader initiatives across IEX’s options and equities exchanges
- The role works closely with market operations, engineering, and customers
- It is well-suited for someone with deep options market knowledge—either from prior product experience or from working in a trading operations capacity and is excited to deliver high-impact, customer-facing products
- Own and drive product initiatives related to the operational toolset and external member portal for the IEX options exchange
- Partner closely with market operations to understand workflows, operational needs, and customer interactions
- Translate business and operational needs into clear, high-fidelity business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Work with engineering to manage the full development lifecycle from discovery through delivery
- Maintain and prioritize the product enhancement backlog, including writing and managing Jira stories and tickets
- Collaborate cross-functionally with market operations, engineering, and other stakeholders to scope and deliver features
- Support testing and validation efforts by reviewing test cases and participating in UAT
- Serve as a primary point of communication between technical teams and business stakeholders
Our take
Innovations in fintech infrastructure have dramatically changed how people invest, but despite such developments, investors still face limitations when trading assets. Exchanges often list out-of-date pricing information which limits investors' abilities to make strategic investment decisions, a problem that is heightened through knock-on effects from other unstable stock prices.
IEX provides a registered US stock exchange for investors and broker-dealers, focussing on providing a more stable trade execution experience than existing exchanges. The company achieves this through its "Speed Bump" strategy that delays trades to gather up-to-date pricing information whilst assessing them for price stability, ensuring that trades are not executed based on stale data, and helping to notify other orders to react to other stock price stability levels.
Whilst the company must share the stock exchange sector with many competitors, IEX show great promise through its focus on maintaining pricing accuracy and stability. The company also stands out by providing a cloud platform for the selling, sharing, and use of financial data, in addition to an investment lifecycle advice tool for institutional investors.
