Who you are
- The right candidate has both the technical accounting depth and the strategic acumen to partner with the leadership team, enabling data-driven decisions that ensure long-term financial health
- This role is ideal for a finance leader who wants to build, not just manage; someone excited to architect Benepass’s finance function from the ground up, putting in place the right systems, processes, and people to create a foundation that can support scalable growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred (but not required)
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership of accounting and FP&A functions
- Experience at a high-growth SaaS company, with a strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Proven track record of implementing or optimizing financial systems (experience with Maxio is a plus)
- Demonstrated success improving AR processes and automating order-to-cash workflows
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands-on experience managing audits
- Deep familiarity with SaaS financial metrics and reporting best practices
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style

What the job involves
- We’re looking for a highly skilled Head of Finance to join us here at Benepass. This role will lead and scale the full finance function, overseeing accounting and FP&A, to deliver the financial infrastructure and insights needed for our next stage of growth
- This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for accounting, controllership, financial systems, and FP&A
- Initially, this role will be deeply focused on strengthening our existing financial operations foundation; establishing rigorous accounting processes, improving automation across order-to-cash, and ensuring Benepass is audit-ready
- This role will also oversee our financial software stack (QuickBooks, Maxio) and be responsible for ongoing process improvements, particularly around AR and reporting automation
- Beyond financial operations, this position encompasses broader FP&A responsibilities, including building out robust forecasting, financial modeling, and SaaS metric reporting frameworks
- Oversee all aspects of Benepass’s accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax
- Manage the relationship with accounting (currently outsourced) to ensure accurate close procedures and regulatory compliance
- Lead audit readiness initiatives, ensuring all financial records, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and reporting adhere to US GAAP
- Build and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance practices
- Maintain and enhance financial systems, with a focus on automating AR and order-to-cash processes for seamless, scalable operations
- Oversee treasury management, including cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and banking relationships
- Develop and refine financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
- Own monthly and quarterly reporting, budget vs. actuals, and key SaaS metrics analysis
- Establish frameworks for clean and consistent reporting on ARR, MRR, and other key SaaS metrics
- Collaborate cross-functionally with go-to-market, product, and operations teams to align financial insights with business goals
- Prepare board decks, investor updates, and internal memos with clear financial narratives
- Define the roadmap for the finance function, including teams, organizational structure, process, and tools
- Develop and evolve a financial infrastructure that scales with the business, including evaluating what to outsource versus bring in-house and optimizing vendor relationships
Our take
The US labor market is creating higher demand for top tier talent, and many companies are looking to improve their benefits as a way of staying competitive. Strong health insurance and holiday policies, however, no longer cut it. Benepass is a benefits administration company looking to help companies stay ahead in this new landscape.
The basic Benepass premise is that pre- and post- tax benefits should be flexible and accessible for employees. As things stand, tax-advantage benefits are hugely under-leveraged by employees: they’re either unsuitable for individual employees, or are procedurally complicated or difficult to use. Benepass’ app centralises and simplifies the process, allowing employees to explore, track, and exercise benefits from a single platform and VISA card.
Building Benepass’ product around a card is a nice twist. Platforms like Zestful and Compt, who are similarly directed towards simplifying communication and education around employee benefits, don’t yet offer the same tangible feature. They’re also not as focused on the more complex area of tax-advantage benefits - which make substantial savings for employers as well as employees. Benepass’ solution is an easy win/win, and in today’s labor market conditions an increasingly necessary one.
