Who you are

2+ years of experience with managing software releases
2+ years of experience managing technical projects
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working within the context of Software Development Lifecycle
Good understanding of system architecture and design principles
Quality Assurance, validating quality of software
Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze source code for understanding system behavior and requirements

What the job involves

Waymo's Technical Program Managers are accountable for Waymo's roadmap execution by providing thoughtful cross-functional planning, clarity, and proactive risk management
In the face of complex technical and operational challenges with no established playbooks to follow, we act with thoughtful urgency, driving conversations, discussions, and outcomes
Our team partners closely with every function of Waymo to structure, own and drive work towards real-world deployments of the Waymo Driver across platforms and geographies
In this role, you will report to a Lead TPM, Release Management
Ensure release tasks are followed and on track
Communicate and facilitate resolution of potential issues as we become aware of them
Continuously improve processes to ensure more efficient releases

Our take

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company that began as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. After initial development, it secured permits to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in cities including Phoenix and San Francisco, but has recently hit a major bump in the road with safety concerns that resulted in a recall of over 400 self-driving cars.

With the autonomous driving industry already besieged by setbacks and public distrust, this development does Waymo no favours. That said, as an industry leader there remains the possibility it will see out the storm, but massive attention will need to be given to rebuilding trust with consumers if this is to be the case.
