What the job involves
- Perplexity’s Associate Product Manager (APM) program is created to be the AI industry’s flagship program for developing exceptional talent into tomorrow’s AI product leaders
- You will immerse yourself in scaling our market-leading products by orders of magnitude, incubating new product experiences that surprise and delight, and identifying tomorrow’s untapped opportunities in a rapidly evolving industry
- Our Associate Product Manager (APM) program develops future AI product leaders
- You’ll accelerate the growth of industry-leading AI products, launch innovative experiences that surprise and delight our users, and help uncover new opportunities in a rapidly evolving field
- You’ll work closely with our cofounders and collaborate with skilled teams in engineering, research, design, data, and business to shape the future of Perplexity and AI
- Our program is designed to maximize depth of experience. Rather than focusing on seminars or retreats, we immerse you directly in product development as it happens—raw, messy, and magical
- You’ll learn by building and contributing, not by watching from the sidelines
- Each APM receives direct mentorship from a Perplexity cofounder—typically our CTO or Chief Strategy Officer
- You’ll be assigned a portfolio they care deeply about, collaborate with teams, and get 1:1 guidance in our fast-paced environment
- Working alongside cofounders, you’ll learn how we navigate rapid market changes, make big bets, and ship better and faster than much larger teams
- Through hands-on work, you’ll gain broad product experience and quickly take on impact across the company
- Most APMs stay under cofounder mentorship for at least six months, with paths to continue as a product manager, move into other roles, or chart your own course
- Your growth at Perplexity is defined by your own talents and drive
Application process

- Your written response should include all relevant background information
- Applications for our first APM cohort are open until August 22, 2025, but slots are very limited to ensure every APM has an exceptional experience
- Interviews and reviews happen as applications come in, so the application period may close early if all spots are filled
- If you’re interested, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to be considered
- Our selection process includes reviewing applications on a rolling basis and inviting selected candidates to one or more exploratory conversations
- If there’s a strong match, you’ll be invited for an onsite interview in San Francisco, where you’ll meet members of our product development teams and one of our cofounders
- We’ll assess your technical fluency, product instincts, and growth potential throughout this process

What sets it apart from other search engines is in its answers, which are concise and fully cited, responding to the user query rather than simply providing a place in which they can scroll to find it themselves.
The company has raised substantial funding, with contributions from former execs at companies like OpenAI, Meta, and Quora, demonstrating the interest that it has drummed up in the space. Having doubled its annual recurring revenue between 2023 and 24, this investment will allow Perplexity AI to continue building out its product, and accelerate growth into the future.
