Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in compensation and benefits roles in an international environment, ideally in multiple companies from startups to more established organisations
- Experience in modern compensation management, incentive structuring, and benchmarking
- Deep understanding of designing and managing total rewards programs and benefits offerings beyond perks
- Proven track record in managing VSOP/ESOP, EIP, and hurdle shares
- Experience with relevant compensation and benefits software and tools, and scaling systems and programs
- Deep understanding of gap analyses
- Data-driven approach, spreadsheet wizardry, and skills to produce meaningful visual analyses to support decision-making
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and ability to explain complicated compensation and benefits topics appropriately to different audiences
- Strong sense of ownership and keen attention to detail
- Ability to lead complex projects and work in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for great people experience and inclusive and equitable compensation and benefits
- Hands-on approach, flexibility, and willingness to support others when needed beyond your own domain
Desirable
- Experience in the fintech or other regulated fields
- Knowledge of pension programs internationally
- Familiarity with our systems: HiBob, Linear, Gaia
What the job involves
- We are looking for an experienced compensation and benefits expert to join the People Experience team as an individual contributor

- Shape the compensation and benefits strategy by following Upvest's company and people strategies, compensation philosophy, and organisational goals
- Conduct a rigorous review of the current structures and design and manage compensation and benefits programs to attract candidates and engage and delight Upvest employees at all levels around the world
- Conduct regular compensation benchmarking, analysis, and construct salary bands in collaboration with the departments
- Participate in the bi-annual progress cycle and lead the compensation reviews
- Own Upvest's virtual shares and employee incentive programs, from issuing allotments to managing and improving the programs and tools
- Design and implement exciting and competitive benefits offerings internationally
- Research and identify compensation opportunities to optimise our offering
- Collaborate across the organisation, provide a world-class people experience, and be the trusted adviser for the C-level management on compensation and benefits topics
- Ensure compliance with regulations
- Work in an outcome-focused manner towards company objectives and People team goals by leading your own projects
- Continuously learn and grow while staying on the pulse of what is happening in the compensation and benefits field
Our take
Upvest is a fintech startup that empowers financial services companies to provide their customers with access to a full range of financial assets, including stocks, ETFs and crypto products. Upvest's investment API integrates seamlessly with its customers existing systems and is designed to scale easily, freeing companies from the need to develop their own brokerage and custody infrastructure from scratch.
As one of the few companies in Germany that is licensed for both the custody of traditional securities and crypto, Upvest is able to provide its services across Europe. Its solution has been readily adopted by some major players in the space including Ginmon, Vivid and ABN AMRO.
Upvest is backed by a number of Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) alongside American investment monolith BlackRock. In 2023 it closed a VC investment round which the company has claimed is one of the largest in the German fintech arena. Its impressive capital raise will go some way to achieving Upvest's goals of profitability as it expands into the US market.
