Role
Who you are
- Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent professional experience alongside relevant professional qualifications
- People management responsibility for c10 FTE
- Excellent Adviser Platform sales expertise at both strategic and operational level, with achievement over a period of time sufficient to demonstrate effective performance against objectives
- Accountability to deliver on agreed revenue and quality targets in periods of market volatility, strong competitor response, and significant change
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to represent Adviser Sales internally and externally, engaging directly with clients
- Responsible for being highly active and visible in your aligned region externally and other regions/Key Accounts as required by the business
What the job involves
- The Head of Region, this role covers the Midlands & South West and will lead a Regional Sales Team, reporting our new Head of Sales and Chief of Distribution, Verona Kenny
- Heads of Region are collectively responsible for creating and delivering the UK Sales strategy and plan
- Our strategy is to build a vibrant and value-creating purpose-led organisation, with the current and future needs of our stakeholders at the heart of all we do
- In this role you will Support the Head of Sales and Chief Distribution Officer in the development and execution of the UK sales strategy, shaping and setting ambitious targets for the team in line with regional objectives and the business' growth ambition
- Lead the Regional Sales team providing direction, guidance, coaching and professional development to ensure the delivery of targets and objectives
- Collaborate with other members of the Adviser Sales leadership team to ensure business planning, forecasting and MI is managed effectively to deliver insight to drive action
- Lead and drive the growth and retention of our relationship base across our segmentation model, "Keep, Grow and Engage"
- Build and maintain strong external client relationships to build trust in our brand and help drive the business towards being the easiest platform in the UK to deal with
- Work closely with the Adviser Sales leadership team, providing critical thinking and challenge to access the right capability, and prepare regular updates for management, highlighting progress, trends and areas where management action is required
- Ensure full adherence and compliance with all regulatory, legislative and business requirements, protecting the business' reputation
- Represent the Sales function on key business projects and initiatives

Abrdn, formerly known as Standard Life Aberdeen, is a global investment company helping its clients to save and invest for their futures. It operates three businesses - Investments, Adviser and Personal - and has been operating since way back in 1825.
Nowadays, atop its investment and advice services, the company delivers two platforms for financial advisers. The first, Wrap, enables users to build and manage portfolios for each client. It also includes SIPP drawdown capabilities - which means advisers can choose the best platform charges when client assets are at their highest. The second, Elevate, encompasses a suite of tools for advisers to save time and make sure their clients are informed.
Recently, Abrdn announced "adviserOS" which represents an upgrade to their platform offerings. There is limited information to go on, but the company claims this new venture will be more simple and data-led, as well as require less admin. It will be interesting to see if this new release keeps pace with tech developments across the investment space, and allows abrdn to continue as an innovator.
