Company mission

To dramatically expand and untether access to healthcare by reimagining the patient experience—delivered at home and powered by technology for scale.

Role

Who you are

  • *If you want to tackle tough technical challenges*, we want to talk to you
  • If any of these sound interesting, Sprinter could be the right place for you. This is your chance to build something truly 0 to 1 at a company with meteoric growth
  • If you want to grow faster than you ever could at a big company*, we want to talk to you. If you're looking to get in at the ground floor of something big, taking on radically larger scope and growing with the company, the best way to do so is with real responsibility to make real decisions
  • If you want to make a difference*, we want to talk to you. Jeffrey Hammerbacher was right: "The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads. That sucks." I've done the Google and Facebook thing for a decade
  • At least 3 years of full-stack or backend-focused experience
  • Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • At least 1 year of professional experience working with LLMs
  • Prompt engineering / evaluation / management
  • Summarization of large document sets
  • Embedding-based search
  • RAG applications
  • Audio generation and conversational AI
  • Agentic applications

What the job involves

  • We're looking for a Software Engineer with experience using AI systems who wants to make an impact on our new Automated Intelligence team
  • We want to make a difference in the lives of those falling between the cracks of the current healthcare system, and could use all the help we can get reimagining last-mile healthcare delivery
  • Health tech is challenging enough on its own, but add in DoorDash-style logistics problems at scale and the constraints of a distributed labor force working in patients’ homes and things get interesting quickly
  • Synthesize rich, pre-visit clinical summaries for our NPs using LLMs over patient charts
  • Uncover care gaps and predict future risk with deep analysis of patient records
  • Conversational patient support with AI voice assistants to ease visit coordination
  • Predict engagement behavior for optimized patient outreach
  • Orchestrate multimodal AI agents to streamline patient care navigation
  • As an engineer at Sprinter, you'll have that while working alongside other engineers and product managers from the likes of Google, Meta, and Amazon
  • With industry-leading growth to date and plenty of room still to grow, getting in now is a recipe for success
  • Technologies: Python and JS/TS, LangChain / LangGraph, ElasticSearch, pgvector, Pinecone, and other vector databases

Our take

Sprinter Health offers on-demand health checks and lab draws by sending nurses and phlebotomists (employed by Sprinter itself) into the home. Amongst its services are blood draws and urine samples, mobile imaging and vitals checks, as well as assistance with telehealth consultations.

The rise in remote, digital health solutions is helping to bring greater access to care, but it’s also created a need for last-mile, in-person services. Indeed, while the last year or so has actually seen a marked drop in investment into digital health, home-based care providers are still going strongly.

There’s no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic had a lot to do with this, but it appears that the demand for in-home services is here to stay. If anything, they’re something of a throwback to decades gone by when house-calls were a regular occurrence.

Despite only emerging from stealth in late 2021, Sprinter is very well funded, and has been quickly building up its headcount in California, with a long term focus on national expansion.
