Who you are
- 5–7+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or related fields, ideally in aerospace, defense, or technology
- Proven ability to manage communications strategy at both regional and global levels, with strong media relations skills
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Experience leading communications for major events, trade shows, or partner announcements
- Familiarity with the European aerospace and defense landscape, including key industry players and government stakeholders
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- A communications manager for Europe drives external and internal communications to support the company’s growing footprint across the region.
- The role includes managing media relations, trade show and event communications, and coordinating with European aerospace and defense partners to amplify Shield AI’s message.
- They ensure consistent brand voice across press releases, social channels, and thought leadership while tailoring messaging for regional audiences.
- The position also involves close collaboration with Shield AI’s U.S. comms team to align European efforts with global strategy and highlights company milestones
- Develop and execute communications strategies that support Shield AI’s growth and partnerships across Europe
- Manage media relations, including pitching stories, handling press inquiries, and building relationships with regional defense and aerospace journalists
- Lead communications for trade shows, conferences, and partner events, ensuring Shield AI’s messaging is clear, compelling, and consistent with global strategy
- Create and adapt content for European audiences across press releases, social channels, and thought leadership platforms
- Work as part of Shield AI’s global communications team to align regional initiatives with company-wide goals and highlight company milestones

Our take
Self-driving vehicles present enormous benefits for the transportation industry, with the potential to increase the safety and efficiency of cars, trucks, and commercial airlines. However, such technological innovation is less present within the military transportation sector, despite the benefits that AI piloting would produce for the operation of drones and aircraft.
Shield AI is developing Hivemind, an AI-driven pilot that can operate drones and aircraft autonomously, without needing GPS, communications, or pilots. In addition to navigation, the technology is also designed to facilitate indoor building clearance, integrated defense breaching, and has the ability to learn and autonomously execute aircraft missions.
Whilst similar AI-driven pilot software has begun to appear in Chinese military research programs, Shield AI's target is the US. By developing fully autonomous piloting integrations for any type of aircraft, the company aims to future-proof the US military without the need for bespoke aircraft design. It has generated massive amounts of funding to support continued scaling and R&D efforts.
