Role
Who you are
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills and experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide actionable, clear, and concise legal advice to non-legal stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Self-starter, can-do attitude combined with a strong sense of humility, collaborative working style, and ability to perform with little supervision
- Experience with debt and project financing is a plus
- Solar, storage or other energy services agreements experience is a plus
- Experience with IP, real estate, finance, construction and general corporate matters is a plus
- Combined law firm and in-house experience (especially with growth-stage companies) is a plus
- Working experience with underwriters or third-party financiers is a plus
- Excellent ability to learn and to wear multiple hats
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Bar licensure to practice law as in-house counsel in Colorado required
- Admission to New York, California, Texas, or Colorado bar preferred
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience
- Up to 10% travel time expected for the position
What the job involves
- Redaptive seeks a Commercial Counsel to join its highly collaborative, solution-oriented legal team supporting the Company’s continued growth
- The Commercial Counsel will report to the Deputy General Counsel
- In this role, you will work with our commercial team on energy retrofit and technology transactions, predominately in the form of master services agreements, leases, loans, and project acquisitions
- In addition, there will be ample opportunities to work on a diverse set of legal matters, across company functions (e.g. procurement, corporate governance, and structured finance), to position Redaptive for its next stage of significant growth
- Draft and negotiate project acquisition, lease, master service agreements, and loan documents
- Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including those related to energy services, consulting, vendors, non-disclosure, financial and other agreements
- Provide legal guidance and support to the company's executives, sales team, managers, and employees on a broad range of legal issues
- Stay up to date with applicable changes in laws and regulations related to the business and communicate these changes to the appropriate stakeholders within the company
- Provide training to employees on legal issues relevant to their roles and responsibilities within the company
- Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure that legal issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner
- Manage the company's legal risk exposure by identifying and assessing legal risks and recommending and implementing risk mitigation strategies
