Systems Engineering Intern, Waymo

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical related field
• Experience in C++ and Python
• Strong communication skills

• You'll build robust C++ software, leveraging AI assistance, to analyze system logs from both field data and simulations
• The primary goal is to automatically detect and flag undesirable system behavior
• Collaborate with safety research, onboard engineering, and simulation teams to identify areas where existing metrics can be improved or where new metrics are needed to enhance system performance and safety
• Construct and manage training, testing, and validation datasets
• Use Python to train the thresholds for all metrics, ensuring their accuracy and reliability
• Document all code, methodologies, and findings comprehensively
• Your documentation will be crucial for the long-term maintainability and future development of the system by other engineers
