Who you are
- A strong send of urgency and ownership in your work
- Proven ability to scope, build, test, and deploy features from end to end
- A good eye for design detail, able to draft pixel perfect web interfaces
- Ability to implement slick animations and transitions in web apps
- A strong understanding of web front-end engineering principles
- A strong understanding of the network stack between the browser and backend API
- Ability to build and maintain CI pipelines
- Ability to debug and optimize page load performance
- Ability to own architectural and design decisions
- Ability to break down large projects into reasonable chunks with reliable estimates

What the job involves
- Wag Is looking for a software engineer to drive product development on the core web platforms for the Wag services marketplace
- This role will work closely with product managers and designers at a fast pace to launch new products and optimize conversion rates
- You’ll bring innovative ideas to the table on how to ship features faster and improve user experience on our platform
- You’ll get to innovate, dog-food the product, and create impactful features for millions of users
- Our Web Stack
- NextJS with Typescript
- Containerized with Docker and hosted on AWS ECS
- Cloudflare CDN and WAF
- Gitlab CI/CD build and deploy pipelines
- Variety of AI-powered tooling for development and testing
Our take
Over 60 million households in the US own at least one dog, and often run into difficulty when looking for reliable and trustworthy people to help take care of their pet when on holiday, away for work, or if a helping hand is needed. Wag aims to meet this need by providing walking and boarding services on-demand.
The company connects dog owners with independent contractors - giving them alternatives to traditional kennels, or having to rely on friends or family. With more people turning to the internet for this type of service, Wag has access to a national market of dog-owners, though it does have a few rivals including the fast-growing "Rover".
After investing in attaining market share, the company has focussed on reaching profitability. A partnership with hotel brand Kimpton has helped to bring Wag's services nationwide, facilitating further growth, and it continues to launch new features such as its Premium Benefits Center.
