Role
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Architect, or Cloud Engineer, ideally within the SaaS space
- You’re hands-on with AWS, particularly with services like RDS, EKS, and cloud security. You’re also proficient in Docker and containerization
- You’ve worked with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform (or similar tools like CloudFormation), and you have experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Jenkins
- You’re pragmatic and excel in environments where efficiency is key. You approach complex problems with clarity and practicality, always eager to learn and adapt
- You thrive in a collaborative environment but can also take full ownership of projects, driving them forward independently and reliably. You communicate technical concepts clearly and work seamlessly with cross-functional teams
Desirable
- Proficiency with GCP and/or Azure in addition to AWS
- Experience with full-stack development (React, TypeScript, Node.js)
- Familiarity with Python and data-related libraries
- A passion for notebooks!
What the job involves
- We're seeking a Platform Engineer to accelerate our product development. You'll tackle complex problems, maintain and enhance our SaaS infrastructure, and elevate our continuous delivery and everything-as-code approach
- You'll become an expert in data science tooling and we'll trust you to make the call which technologies we use and which processes we implement
- Maintain and improve our cloud infrastructure footprint
- Own and drive our SaaS architecture, making and executing key decisions
- Ensure we anticipate infrastructure problems before they arise
- Elevate our Infrastructure as Code and CICD practices with tools like Terraform and CircleCI
- Build reusable components for other engineering teams to interface with infrastructure
- Help our community of data scientists and developers succeed with Deepnote
Our take
Deepnote’s founders knew first-hand that data scientists do not work alone, hence conceived the company in 2019, offering a cloud-based notebook that promises to ease collaboration for data science professionals.
The Jupyter Notebook was the most popular of its kind existing in the market, but was weak when it came to collaboration and didn’t seem to facilitate best engineering practices. The founders didn’t get very far after trying to raise these problems with Jupyter, so figured that if they don’t build an alternative, no one else will.
The company has experienced rapid growth, fueled by strong backing from top investors and has quickly become a go-to platform for shared data science notebooks. With major clients like DyteDance and Discord already on board, the company is ready to expand its product and offerings in order to strengthen its presence within the data science community.
