- 6+ years of experience as in full time software development roles
- You can work effectively across the stack from top to bottom, comfortably navigating codebases with different languages and tools

- Experience as a technical lead, including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions

- You’re equally as comfortable shipping user-facing experiences as you are writing custom queries to analyze experiment results

What the job involves
- We’re looking for an experienced Staff Full Stack Engineer to join our team and lead initiatives focused on accelerating the growth of Stripe Billing
- In this role, you will be responsible for defining and implementing data-driven strategies to improve user acquisition, adoption, and retention across many of Stripe’s user-facing surfaces
- As s staff engineer on Billing, you will work with fellow engineers, engineering managers and cross-functional partners to design and build end-to-end product experiences
- You will help foster a culture of high product velocity and data-driven decision making, and define best practices that enable the team to iterate and learn in increasingly tight feedback loops
- Lead by example in designing, developing and delivering optimized, delightful product experiences
- Partner closely with engineering, product, and design leadership to define our product-led growth strategy
- Establish best practices, frameworks, and repeatable processes that enable us to measure the impact of every feature that we ship
- Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
- Develop and lead the team to execute against both short-term and long-term roadmaps
- Work in a variety of languages and technologies, including Ruby, Java, Typescript, React, and GraphQL
- Mentor and coach individual contributors to become the next generation of leaders at Stripe
Our take
Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payments option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.
More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.
To further expand its position, the company is looking to triple its presence in Ireland, and extend its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil and India. Its latest venture, coming atop significant new funds, is to partner with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that will monetize OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhance Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forwards with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."
