Who you are
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams
- Proven understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization
- Experience developing software for and testing robotic systems, either in industry or academia
- C/C++ or Python development experience
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Desirable
- 1+ years of production-grade C++ and/or Python experience in a Linux development environment
- Feature and algorithm development with an understanding of behavior trees
- Strong track record of troubleshooting ambiguous problems
- Experience developing mission-critical functionality
- Knowledge of distributed communication networks and message standards
- Hands-on experience developing software for embedded and physical devices
- Experience working on autonomous underwater vehicles
What the job involves
- Anduril is fielding the next generation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) to tackle the extremely challenging industry demands of seabed exploration
- Anduril has brought to the market a unique, ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth platform and a completely refreshed maritime vehicle and flexible manufacturing architecture that scales from "large" to "extra-large" vehicle sizes
- Today, Anduril is executing on multi-million-dollar contracts while simultaneously performing Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) AUV operations
- We’re looking for a Software engineer to support our Undersea Reconnaissance, & Strike (URS) platforms— including Dive-LD and Copperhead
- These uncrewed undersea vehicles require a Software Engineer to deliver behaviors that enable data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control
- As a Software Engineer on the team, you’ll own end to end integration, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together to power our undersea products
- Contribute to the core behaviors library for all URS platforms
- Write production-quality code, primarily in Python and C++
- Assist in integrating and deploying behavior features across our URS platforms, working closely with senior engineers
- Implement and test robotic behaviors to improve system reliability and performance of the URS fleet
- Learn and apply troubleshooting strategies to resolve ambiguous issues in behavior systems
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design through testing and deployment
- Navigate dynamic, ambiguous environments
- Travel up to 10% of each year to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the real world
Our take
Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.
This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.
Anduril closed a $1 billion Series G funding round in 2025 led by the Founders Fund, doubling its valuation to $30 billion. This oversubscribed funding round came after the company doubled its revenue in 2024, when it won a contract with the US military to build its soldiers' VY/AR headsets for combat, a contract the company beat Microsoft to.
