Who you are
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field
- Alternately, professional experience equivalent to the above
- 7+ years of professional experience in software development
- 2+ years of experience in one of the following: Python, or Typescript
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Experience leading/mentoring technical teams
- Solid understanding of infrastructure (databases, storage, caching, content delivery), and cloud hosting offerings
- Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions
What the job involves
- Nexamp is looking to hire a Tech Lead to join the Product & Technology team
- In this role, you will manage the software development team’s delivery, schedule, and growth
- You will use your expertise in Python, Typescript, and other programming languages, technologies, and architecture patterns to provide solutions to daily implementation challenges
- This role involves being a people lead/mentor for a small team as well as a senior individual contribution for the squad
- You will be hybrid out of our Boston office and will report to the SVP, Product & Technology
- Lead a tech team to deliver software solutions that meet stakeholder requirements
- Mentor more junior developers to help them grow both technically and professionally
- Ensure the continued growth of the team to help them operate efficiently and effectively
- Recommend, advocate for, and implement software architecture and process changes
- Set aggressive goals for the team and maintain and achieve the software development schedule
- Act as a senior technical expert for the outcome, keeping up with external trends
- Design, implement, and debug new features across one or more projects
- Work with the product team, stakeholders, and other developers to refine system designs and influence architectural decisions
- Maintain and influence coding standards and development processes
- Document implementations and design decisions
