As enterprises modernise their legacy applications and clamber to use cloud services, they require data stores that are both vertically and horizontally scalable across clouds, datacentres and geographies.
DataStax is one company tackling this, offering support services for the NoSQL database, a commercial version of the Apache Cassandra database, and a database-as-a-service platform called Astra. And the company has an impressive list of enterprise clients too, including Bank of America, CapitalOne, Disney, Starbucks, and McDonald’s.
DataStax plans to expand its partner network in additional ASEAN markets, while also looking to move beyond its core product – a trend reinforced by the company’s acquisition of cloud messaging service Kesque and machine learning company Kaskada. The latter indicates a growing focus on generative AI features in its enterprise database offerings, following its $115 million funding round in 2022.
