Role
Who you are
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years as an HR business partner or HR administrator. Experience working with blue-collar employees is a strong advantage
- Managerial Skills: Proven ability to develop, motivate, and manage blue-collar teams effectively, particularly in workshop or industrial environments
- Legal Expertise: Deep knowledge of French labor laws and HR practices, particularly in industries employing blue-collar workers
- Hands-On Approach: Comfortable being actively involved in resolving HR issues, taking over HR ops topics
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong structural thinking and problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating complex HR challenges while ensuring compliance with labor laws
- Tech-savy:You are proficient in office automation tools (e.g. google docs and sheets, slack, docusign)
- Project Management: Excellent project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple HR initiatives simultaneously
- Languages: Fluent in both French and English
What the job involves
- As the People Partner for our French operations, you will play a central role in supporting the expansion of operations across France by working closely with the Operations teams
- By acting and providing people guidance at every step of the employee lifecycle, while ensuring compliance with French labor laws, you will contribute to Dance’s development into the French market, while establishing and maintaining our work standards, both at management and blue collar level
- You will develop a People strategy tailored to local activity in France and its specificities, while managing all operational HR aspects in France
- Also collaborating strongly with the central people team, your role will be to broadcast Dance’s culture locally
- Establish a local HR strategy aligned with the company vision
- Support the company's growth and organizational evolution
- Ensure compliance of HR policies with current legislation
- Follow local HR KPIs
- Develop and manage recruitment, onboarding and retention processes
- Design training plans for skills development
- Set up internal mobility and succession plans
- Provide expert guidance to supervisors and managers, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to enforce company policies effectively
- Be the touchpoint for employee concerns and conflicts that supervisors are unable to resolve. Execute disciplinary processes when necessary
- Manage employee files, employment contracts,addendums, absences, leave and offboardings
- Ensure practices comply with employment legislation
- Supervise payroll in conjunction with the dedicated service provider
- Develop and Optimize HR processes according to compliance and best practices (hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, career development, HR policies)
- Define appropriate performance and compensation and benefits policies
- Contribute to steering and fostering a productive and inclusive corporate culture
- Collaborate with the market lead to promote and embed the company’s values and culture within the French team, especially among blue-collar employees
Our take
More than 1,000 kilometres of new cycling infrastructure have been implemented in Europe since 2020 and nearly half of Germans are interested in owning an e-bike. The European market is now projected to double by 2025. However, with an average purchasing price of €2,300, e-bikes are expensive and have a higher probability of being stolen, leaving many consumers out of the market.
Dance offers a cheaper, more flexible alternative to buying an e-bike. Dance’s “E-bikes-as-a-service” solution allows users to pay a subscription service for e-bikes. For a set monthly cost, e-bikes are delivered directly to users’ doors, plus, the subscription also covers servicing, repairs, theft insurance, and replacement bike in the case of theft. Dance was founded by the team behind SoundCloud and Jimdo, which has lent the company considerable credibility, and attracted impressive funding.
Dance has gained a solid foothold in Germany, France, and Austria. Its largest market is Paris as the city is set to build +1,000 km of bike lanes. it will face significant challenges in other markets. If Dance is to scale its operations in new territories - such as the UK, where there are large competitors such as DASH, LYTE, and Zoomo - its early 2023 funding will need to be put to good use, further optimising and expanding its offerings.
