Who you are

We are looking to hire an individual who is motivated by a challenge, loves being on the cutting edge of technology, and is excited about getting real-world experience building products that will be used by our customers
Currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field, with a graduation date between 2027 and 2028
Proficient in programming in one or more of the following languages: Javascript/Typescript, Ruby, Kotlin,
Familiarity with web development frameworks and libraries such as Micronaut, gRPC, DataDog, Postgres, SQL/Jooq, Liquibase, React
Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
Availability to work from our office in SOMA, San Francisco

What the job involves

Duration: ~10 weeks, from ~June to ~August 2026
Our goal at GlossGenius is to help small businesses achieve their highest potential - and in order to do that, we need to continue to grow our incredibly talented team
You will work closely with our extremely talented and experienced engineering team to contribute to the development and enhancement of our products
You will report to an engineering manager on our team
Software Development: Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and test new features and functionalities for our web and mobile applications. Your contributions will directly impact the experiences of our users, including beauty professionals and clients
Coding and Troubleshooting: Write clean and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices and GlossGenius coding standards. Participate in debugging and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly
Product Improvement: Provide valuable insights and suggestions for improving the user interface, user experience, and overall performance of our software applications
Data Analysis: Collaborate with data analysts to collect and analyze data related to user interactions with our platform. Use data-driven insights to inform engineering decisions
Learning and Growth: Proactively seek opportunities to learn and expand your skills in various technologies and development methodologies. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

Our take

Business management platforms exist for a wide range of industries, including retail, hospitality, and healthcare. However, despite a modern facade the beauty industry lacks specialized software and still runs on generic CRMs and basic spreadsheets. Recognizing a gap in the market, GlossGenius has stepped in to provided a specialized business management platform for beauty salons, spas and studios.

With little competition in this niche, GlossGenius has swiftly captured a large market share, with triple-digit year on year revenue growth. It serves over 1000,000 businesses and has raised more than $70M.

With this funding, the company is aiming to accelerate platform development off the back of the release of consumer experience, payment and automation products. And it is well on the way to fulfilling its long-term aim of developing into the Toast of the beauty industry.
