Who you are
- 10 years of experience within marketing operations, brand, and creativity
- Experience leading the creative and brand campaign process ensuring the highest quality of marketing materials regardless of the size of project
- A strong creative instinct paired with strategic rigour
- Deep understanding of how brand drives business outcomes
- Agency and in-house experience is a plus but not required
- MBA is a plus but not required
- Ability to lead initiatives that materially reshape company-level performance or structure
- Proven ability to influence and align Senior Leadership Team (SLT) around complex trade-offs
- Experience utilising management software such as clickup, airtable, monday, and others that drive efficiencies among teams

- The Cleo marketing team is growing quickly and the need for brand strategy with operations at scale is important for continued brand acceleration. We know both organizations tend to be separate, however, we are building differently at Cleo tied to our values as a company. As a brand moving at the speed of A.I., we believe Cleo is ready for truly integrated marketing campaigns, full funnel internal creative studio, improved brand performance, and smoother planning of larger company initiatives, but we can’t do it without a strong marketing leader
- We’re looking for a proactive, highly strategic, culture-loving, gantt chart-building Director with proven strategies, templates and ideas for scaling fast without breaking (too many) things
- This role will manage a newly created centralised organization reporting to the SVP, Marketing. And while the role is fully remote, the ideal candidate is located in the eastern time zone, since our team (and company) has many employees in London
- Scale Cleo’s brand strategy by defining a clear, compelling white space in the market that reinforces our mission and differentiates us in the world of Artificial Intelligence
- Ensure visual brand identity is consistent across all touchpoints by ensuring consistency and excellence across product, marketing, campaigns, social, partnerships, and beyond
- Leads major cross-functional initiatives (planning cycles, budget governance, creative studio operations, brand operational oversight)
- Build and lead a high-performing team of operation excellence, strategists, influencer marketers, producers, project managers, and partnerships fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation
- Partner cross-functionally and collaborate closely with creative studio, product, growth, data, and leadership teams to align brand with business strategy
- Scale brand impact through frameworks, tools, and systems that allow the brand to scale in a smart, efficient manner without losing its distinct voice
- Own brand performance by defining and tracking metrics that measure brand health, awareness, and impact on growth
- Drives high level and tactical initiatives that enhance efficiencies across teams by managing operations for the brand & creative organization including creative studio, social, brand planning, and production
- Enable the team to be more efficient with time by onboarding tools (click up, asana, monday, airtable), vendors, and ensuring meeting cadence improve collaboration
- Evolves company-level operating rhythms and decision rights
- Acts as a trusted strategic partner to SLT on trade-offs, risks, and scaling constraints

People are increasingly not satisfied with the products being offered by traditional banks, which have proven slow to react to the needs of younger consumers who expect more from their everyday experiences.
Cleo was one of the first companies to make great use of chatbots that sit within Facebook's messenger app. This chatbot-first approach and Gen Z user base have given it strong virality. It now has millions of registered users, 99% of which are based in the US, leading to a decision to take a year break from the UK market to focus on its US Gen Z customers. And after a successful year in the US its now eyeing up a return to the UK.
Its Series C funding will help the company to double down in the US, where it will make a significant increase in employee headcount, and enable Cleo to maintain and expand its service during an economic downturn.
Financial advice delivered via bots is a crowded space, so Cleo benefits from having a strong brand presence. It has gone for very bold, fun, Gen Z-focused messaging which helps it to stand out from competitors such as Emma, Plum, and Chip.
