What the job involves
- We're looking for a VP-level Chief of Staff to serve as a force multiplier for NoRedInk’s executive leadership team
- Reporting directly to the CEO, you will drive the successful execution of critical cross-functional programs and projects through your impeccable attention to detail and consistent follow-through
- You’ll enhance organizational efficiency and decision-making by ensuring the right processes and data are in place to inform key decisions for the executive leadership team
- Build and maintain the schedule of board meetings, internal company events and communications, and external company events, such as conferences
- Facilitate the Board Meeting preparation process
- Foster alignment on priorities as they pertain to the business strategy
- Collaborate closely with executive leaders to facilitate the completion of pre-work tasks, enabling readiness for focused discussions during the meeting
- Create reports and decks for internal meetings and board meetings that balance data visualization with storytelling
- Ensure highly productive quarterly strategic planning sessions by aligning priorities as they relate to the overall business strategy, partnering with our facilitator to design the meeting agenda, and preparing all relevant materials in advance of the session—partnering with executive leaders, as needed, to ensure pre-work is completed
- Support the executive leadership team in operationalizing key initiatives and staying aligned with the strategic vision
- Support clear accountability during weekly executive team meetings by capturing accurate meeting minutes and ensuring clarity of the next steps
- Drive pivotal cross-functional initiatives by spearheading collaborative efforts, ensuring alignment across departments, and orchestrating the seamless execution of strategic projects to achieve organizational goals and enhance operational efficiency. This will be accomplished through owning initiatives directly and enabling other executive leadership team members to achieve their initiatives
Our take
Edtech company NoRedInk is on a mission to help students in grades 4-12 become better writers. The foundational issue the company addresses is that graded papers don’t offer meaningful feedback on how students can improve the quality of their writing and the basic problem they face is how to quantify and teach according to these unwritten rules.
The solution they’ve come up with is a platform that provides targeted, adaptive practice exercises built around engaging content that yields actionable data for educators to monitor a student’s progress. It might seem that this puts them in competition with the AI-based correction app Unicorn Grammarly, but this would be missing the point. The idea is to provide an interactive learning and teaching resource, not simply correct mistakes once made.
It’s won the platform impressive funding in recent years, boosted no doubt by surging VC interest in the edtech sector that’s seen investment in it rise to over $16B globally. With half of US school districts already using the platform, NoRedInk looks set to establish a leading position going forwards.
