Who you are
- The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a deep understanding of modern product management practices, is passionate about customer-centric innovation, and thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Computer Science Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Systems Administration, or related disciplines
- MBA is a plus
- 5+ years as a product manager for a SaaS offering, preferably for wholesale power markets
- Proven track record of portfolio delivery
- Experience in an IT role is a plus
- Experience using Azure or Jira for Agile projects; certified in Agile is a plus
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Exceptional communications skills and client presence in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and results oriented
- Strong analytic skills and ability to learn, with a proven track record of solving complex problems
- Self-starter working independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with technology and business partners, and to lead compromises between the two
- Ability to lead a portfolio of projects to success
- Ability to create user journeys, user stories, wireframes, and basic diagrams to convey ideas

What the job involves
- The Director of Product Management role is responsible for helping shape and execute the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for Xpansiv’s Power division
- The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally within and across the business unit, architecture, technical, marketing, and sales teams, and ensure that products drive business growth while delivering exceptional value to clients
- This is an individual contributor role with the potential for future people management responsibilities
- Evolve Xpansiv’s Power market products and services by continuously evaluating customer value proposition, innovating the solution set for ongoing product-market-fit, articulating product vision, developing the roadmap, specifying features and services, and assisting with maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog
- Develop advanced proficiency with Xpansiv’s Power products and internal systems, deliver timely product support for customers, and recommend product and process enhancements
- Conceptualize and mature business ideas or concepts into clear, actionable proposals and/or feature requests; this may require distilling a feature request into its underlying functionality to recommend the most fitting implementation approach
- Collaborate as a leader with clients, commercial or product peers, architecture and technical teams to structure priorities, allocate resources, communicate or refine business concepts, and challenge implementation approaches as needed
- Document product specifications with highest degree of caliber, cataloging both functional and nonfunctional requirements; create, update, and maintain client-facing product documentation
- Lead the engineering effort to market, from project inception and client-facing workshops through to status reports, UAT, and go-live efforts, keeping in line with company policy and standards
- Evaluate the product portfolio from a business and software delivery perspective, with an emphasis on how to best sequence the pipeline and/or develop a business opportunity
- Establish the success metrics of an initiative at project onset, relying on previous, proven work experiences and current-day research to garner consensus and alignment from cross-functional teams
- Maintain a general understanding or working knowledge of the IT systems and their connections
- Champion agile methodology and other standards or tools to gain efficiencies in product specification, UI/UX design, and project management
- Analyze competitors, industry/business trends, and ISO rules and system changes to ensure Xpansiv products are continuously market-leading and ISO-compliant

The market for carbon offset and RECs is growing fast, with firms and businesses looking to trade in order to meet sustainability requirements and ESG goals. With the market currently fractured and somewhat murky, however, a wave of startups are emerging to establish a dominant exchange that’s both centralized and transparent. Xpansiv is one of them - and it’s gotten a strong headstart on the competition.
Xpansiv allows companies to trade environmental commodities including offsets, RECs, and differentiated fuels. The platform offers a range of marketplaces, alongside signal data, portfolio management capabilities, and global registries.
So it’s a comprehensive combination of exchanges, analytics, and tools. Its edge, however, comes from its extensive backing. It’s struck a long term and hefty financing arrangement with Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm, and among its equity investors are BP, British Oil, Goldman Sachs and the Bank of America. This in total recently gave it a pre-IPO evaluation of over $1B.
With this top-tier industry involvement, Xpansiv looks set to net some major players. This will help Xpansiv establish itself as a leader in the emerging environmental and commodities exchange market.
