Who you are

- 1-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Experience with accounting software Xero and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Strong proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
What the job involves
- As a Finance Assistant in a startup environment, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's financial operations during its growth phase
- You will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and assisting in the development of financial strategies
- Your contribution will directly impact the financial health and operational efficiency of the business
- Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) by generating and processing invoices and payments
- Process daily settlement for merchants, ensuring accuracy in payment amounts
- Carrying out important checks to ensure our accounts reconcile, identifying discrepancies, and resolving them across all our payment platforms
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy
- Process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records, both digital and paper
- Support the finance team with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documents and reports
- Enter financial data into accounting software and ensure the accuracy of records
- Generate reports on financial data as required by the finance team or management
- Support the finance team with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Assist with any finance-related projects, such as system upgrades or process improvements

Unlike payment solutions like Square and Dojo, which require pricey card readers and offer real-time payments only at a premium, Pomelo Pay is developing truly instant payment methods that require no additional equipment. These include QR codes, links, and soon a feature allowing one’s smartphone to act as the card reader.
With this diverse and modern set of digital offerings, Pomelo Pay is demonstrating itself to be highly capable of keeping up with rapid advancements in the FinTech space. It will need to be - the sector is moving at lightning pace, fuelled by liberal VC investment and the need to get ahead in the new FinTech markets being opened up worldwide by sweeping digital transformation.
In this regard, Pomelo Pay is already a step ahead. It’s operating in various regions across the European and Asian markets - the latter of which is a particularly smart play. Thanks to heavy digitisation and e-commerce, along with a general ‘internet friendliness’, real-time digital payments have been picking up substantially in this part of the world. It’s not, however, a dominated market yet.
