Our take

One-fifth of US students struggle with some kind of thinking or learning difference, like dyslexia or dyspraxia - but classrooms are rarely fit to accommodate the special provisions required. Waitlists for private treatment, tutoring, and therapy can be prohibitively long - and the cost prohibitively steep, too. So what’s the answer? For educational support company Parallel, it’s about democratizing and accelerating access for students in need.

Parallel’s platform centralizes providers, resources, and assessment options which can see learners diagnosed and accessing support in a matter of days. It’s this rapid turnaround time, in fact, which has no doubt helped Parallel net partnerships with school systems: schools are legally obliged to offer educational support, but are often too under-resourced and overworked to comfortably do so within the legal time frame.

While the company is still very young, its responding to a real market need and has already made impressive strides. In Q3 2024, the startup grew its provider network by 200%, with over 95% of providers choosing to stay with the company. And with recent funding to its name, the company is gearing up for an exciting future.
