Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of proven success designing and implementing large-scale enterprise data systems
- Strong understanding of core python, its tooling (pip, poetry, popular frameworks like pytest or pydantic)
- Strong pyspark experience (dataframe API) and understanding of internal architecture and optimization techniques
- Deep experience with industry-leading tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Redshift
- Demonstrated expertise in architectural patterns for building high-volume real-time and batch ETL pipelines
- Experience with data modelling, pipeline design, metrics calculation and documentation
- Experience in deployment and infrastructure management using terraform is a plus
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, facilitating effective cross-functional collaboration
- Proven ability to partner effectively with product teams to drive alignment and deliver solutions
- A history of making decisions that positively influence team dynamics and organizational culture
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

- In this role, you will work closely with our data science, data analytics and engineering teams to enable the entire company to bring personalized mental health and wellness to all our members
- Design and Build Scalable Data Infrastructure: Architect and implement robust data pipelines to ingest, aggregate, and index diverse data sources into the organization’s data lake
- Develop a World-Class Data Warehousing Platform: Lead the creation of a secure, compliant, and privacy-focused data warehousing solution tailored to meet the healthcare industry’s stringent requirements
- Enable Business Insights: Partner with the data analytics team to deliver a data platform that supports accurate, actionable reporting on key business metrics
- Empower Data Science and Machine Learning Innovation: Collaborate with the data science and machine learning teams to build tools and capabilities that foster rapid experimentation and innovation
- Foster a Data-Driven Culture: Mentor and coach data engineers while championing a culture that values data as a strategic asset across the organization
Our take
The world is facing a growing mental health crisis. In 2022, the US saw the proportion of the population with an acute anxiety, depression or other mental health need grow from 20% to 40%.
In 2021, Headspace and Ginger finalised a $3bn merger to form Headspace Health, an accessible mental health platform. It is determined to democratize mental healthcare, and its brands are already being used by over 100 million people and more than 4,000 enterprises including Starbucks, Adobe and Paramount.
There is clearly a need for virtual mental healthcare, and the market is growing increasingly crowded, with competitors including His & Hers Health. However, Headspace Health sets itself apart with its rapidly growing portfolio of services, added in part through strategic acquisitions such as that of AI health firm Sayana in 2022. It is now focusing on international expansion, offering its services directly to companies in the UK for the first time.
