Role
Who you are
- Have 4+ years of professional software development experience, and a track record of building impactful products or systems
- Owner's mindset with strong execution. Have the passion and drive to apply engineering, machine learning and statistical skills to solving complex business problems
- Technical proficiency to understand and contribute to the design and implementation of projects and ideas
- Excellent communication, collaboration and effective prioritization skills in working with competing priorities
- Have strong analytical skills and can extract critical information from analyzing transaction data and user patterns
- (Preferred) Have domain expertise in the payments, anti-abuse or fraud detection space
- (Preferred) Experience in partnering with other leads from engineering, product, operations and compliance to craft roadmaps and measures of success
What the job involves
- This team is building a real-time risk engine that leverages heuristic rules and machine learning to evaluate every transaction, provides the foundational infrastructure for us to make accurate decisions in real-time, and ultimately drive a strong bottom line for Lime
- Collaborate with other leaders (PM, DS, Operation, Finance, Legal, etc.) across the company to solve complex, technical, and interdependent payment and fraud problems that directly affect Lime's top and bottom line
- Develop robust and extensible engineering platforms that can reliably serve millions of transactions at Lime
- Build ML systems to optimize payment performance and improve risk management
- Be diligent about tracking and analyzing data to initiate data-backed proposals and make data-driven decisions
- Contribute to shaping overall engineering culture at the company
- Help scale the team by coaching and developing other engineers, attracting and retaining world-class talent

Our take
In recent years, electric-powered mobility companies have attracted an extraordinary amount of interest and funding, in part due to rising eco-friendly sentiment, and in part because of the race to "find the next Uber". Lime is one such company, that has rapidly scaled across multiple geographies to be a key player in the fight for market leadership.
Lime, along with its competitors, has had to grapple with regulation in many of its target markets, but nonetheless has steadily increased its footprint. Since its launch, the company has facilitated millions of trips, making it one of the biggest companies of its kind. Interestingly, the CEO has stated that "cars are our true business rivals—not other scooter companies", suggesting that its biggest business challenge will be to get families to give up their second cars.
With a presence that spans an impressive number of regions - most recently Lime has begun operating in Qatar - the company has cemented itself in the micromobility market, and stands to profit from the increasing popularity of these types of services. Across 2022, a substantial increase in ridership enabled Lime to achieve a "full profitable year", with suggestions it will pursue an IPO in the near future.
