- 5+ years of experience as a DBA or Database Engineer in cloud-based environments
- Deep hands-on experience with managed relational services, including Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL) and GCP Cloud SQL / for PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience managing and operating large-scale Cassandra clusters
- Proficiency in SQL and performance tuning, query analysis, and database monitoring
- Experience writing and maintaining Terraform code for database infrastructure
- Solid understanding of backup/restore strategies, replication, and high availability in managed DB services
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or equivalent) for automation and tooling
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting operational and cost data to identify inefficiencies and prioritize optimization efforts
- Ability to use statistical and usage-based analysis to drive infrastructure decisions and focus engineering efforts where they deliver the most value
- Experience operating both relational and NoSQL databases in large-scale, multi-region environments
- Experience driving efficient and performance database solutions techniques for cloud databases
- Experience in detecting and fixing performance bottlenecks
- Exposure to Kubernetes-native database management or operators is a plus
- Comfortable collaborating across engineering, SRE, and platform teams
What the job involves
- We seek a Cloud Database Engineer with expertise in both relational databases (Amazon Aurora and GCP-hosted PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra) to lead critical efforts in optimizing, scaling, and automating our cloud database infrastructure
- In this role, you will take ownership of high-scale, production-grade database environments, driving cost efficiency, performance, and operational excellence
- You will collaborate closely with platform, infrastructure, and FinOps teams to ensure our databases are secure, resilient, and cost-effective
- You will also define best practices and automation standards through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and partner with application teams to implement the plans
- Operate and optimize Aurora and GCP PostgreSQL DBs powering mission-critical, high-throughput workloads
- Manage and scale Cassandra clusters, ensuring high availability and performance for high-scale data flows and global platform availability
- Provide guidance on schema design, query optimization, and observability for both cloud-native relational and NoSQL workloads
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, reduce over-provisioning, and tune configurations for maximum efficiency across all database platforms
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) modules for repeatable and scalable database provisioning
- Design and implement backup, HA/DR, upgrade, and maintenance strategies for mission-critical systems
- Collaborate with engineering and FinOps teams to align provisioning and usage with business requirements

SentinelOne is a cybersecurity company that matches this automation, with machine learning-focused software that is built to help businesses battle online attacks.
The company expanded the scope of its business from the endpoint security market to three markets valued at a combined $30 billion, including the corporate endpoint security and IT operations management markets. This gives SentinelOne a bigger potential customer base, although also puts them in direct competition with more focused cybersecurity companies, in addition to its biggest competitor, CrowdStrike.
When the company went public, it made financial headlines as the highest-valued cybersecurity IPO ever, which gave SentinelOne a market cap of $10B, though it's now fallen to around $4B. It has subsequently launched S Ventures, a $100M fund, through which SentinelOne invests in cybersecurity startups and has expanded its partnership with major tax firm KPMG to accelerate cyber investigations and responses to threats.
