- Enjoy owning systems end-to-end, from first design doc to fixing production edge cases weeks later
- Care deeply about correctness and long-term maintainability, but don’t let that stop you from shipping a useful initial version and learning from it
- Systems thinking: you can spot the pattern across several different issues, talk to people to understand the true requirements, and see the common architectural solution instead of coding band-aid fixes
- Are curious about domains you don't already understand - like accounting!
- Can disagree respectfully, explain your reasoning, and change your mind when the data says you should
- We're optimizing for excellent engineers who are good teammates
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience with TypeScript or a similar language, and a willingness to work across the stack
- Experience with high volume data ingest a plus
What the job involves
- Tabs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Ingest team, part of our broader Integrations org. This team's mission is simple to state and hard to build: any source, any data — from real-time CRM sync to usage events and streams to the customer and commercial graph that ties it all together
- Data volumes are about to grow sharply as merchants shift to AI-era, usage-based billing, and this team's usage-to-billing pipeline and CRM integrations need to scale to meet it. This is a senior IC role today, with real room to grow into technical leadership as the team grows
- Our teams build iteratively — engineers work closely with product and design to to deliver the first version that solves the problem, get it in front of the customers, and then use the feedback to build even better. We keep the bigger picture in mind but don’t let “perfect” get in the way of “useful”
- The work spans new product development, system design, data modeling, and operational scale. Engineers join Tabs because they want to own meaningful systems, shape how our platform evolves, and learn from talented peers in a fast-moving environment
- At Tabs you will not be pushing anonymous tickets. You will be trusted with real scope, real decisions, and real customers. We expect engineers to think critically, debate ideas, explain tradeoffs, and follow through
- Own pieces of the usage-to-billing pipeline: ingesting raw usage events, aggregating them, turning datapoints into dynamic pricing
- Build and scale real-time CRM ingestion (Salesforce, HubSpot today) toward a platform that can onboard any new data source without custom code
- Design and extend the customer and commercial graph — the semantic model that represents our customers and their customers across Tabs
- Work across the full stack — front-end configuration surfaces like an in-app workflow builder, as well as backend and event ingest infrastructure
- Level up the engineers around you. The engineering organization has a range of experiences and backgrounds, and we’re growing fast. You'll be someone people look up to as you set the technical bar, mentor and learn from those around you, and shape the kind of culture we want as we get bigger

Despite the rise of automation within businesses, a massive amount of financial work is still done manually. Tabs believes that this workload needs to be moved to modern, automated software, so it provides a platform that does just that.
Tabs' AI-powered accounts receivable platform empowers B2B businesses to optimize their AR processes, saving them time, improving cash flow and reducing the rate of billing errors. The platform can do this because its AI is capable of reading and understanding commercial contracts, which until now required the eye of an experienced finance professional.
The company already boasts a number of clients such as Pelago, Findigs and Volta. A 2024 influx of funding has set the company up for further development and growth and cements it as one to watch.
