Who you are
- We’re looking for a strategic player coach – a Lead Product Designer who’s ready to tackle complex UX challenges and elevate our product to new heights

- 8+ years of experience in end-to-end Product Design with significant experience designing for data-heavy, complex, technical or developer-oriented SaaS/B2B products
- Proven track record of leading major design initiatives
- Proven track record of leading and mentoring other designers
- Exceptional product design skills, including user research, UX/interaction design, information architecture, and high-fidelity prototyping
- Strong systems-thinking capability with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity and simplify highly technical workflows
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to articulate design decisions clearly to diverse audiences including engineers, product managers, and executives
- Comfortable balancing strategic vision with practical, hands-on execution
- Experience working in data integration, analytics, developer tools, or related technical fields is strongly preferred

- On our tight-knit and supportive team, you’ll shape the workflows that empower technical users to seamlessly integrate and manage data
- You’ll dig into user needs, collaborate closely with product and engineering on product strategy, and help foster a culture where design is seen as crucial to our success
- This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA or Denver, CO offices
- Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team
- Own the end-to-end design strategy and execution for key areas of our product
- Deliver creative solutions while proactively identifying and proposing future improvements and features
- Collaborate closely with your stakeholders to shape roadmaps and product direction, align design strategy with business goals, and champion user-centered projects from concept to release
- Act as a vocal and opinionated champion for the user experience
- Advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization
- Confidently challenge and influence cross-functional partners to embed user considerations in product decisions and ensure the user voice and UX vision remain at the forefront of our product strategy
- Leverage strong communication and compelling storytelling skills to inspire trust, clearly articulate design rationale in terms of business value and technical feasibility, and effectively align teams around your cohesive design strategy
- Champion user-centric ideas with your stakeholders and ensure daily design work actively supports strategic business objectives
- Promote design excellence by leading, mentoring, and inspiring your team with your expert guidance, actionable feedback, and championing of best practices
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages experimentation, creativity, and continuous improvement
- Actively explore new tools, methods, and approaches to elevate the design process and raise the bar for UX quality across teams
- Conduct and utilize user research to deeply understand our technical users
- Proactively identifying user needs, pain points, and opportunities
- Inform design decisions with insights from your research and validate your concepts through testing and feedback
- Deliver with grit and urgency and drive impactful results in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate resilience in navigating ambiguity, proactively unblock challenges, maintain momentum, and ensure high-quality design outcomes in a dynamic environment

Our take
After a few slower years since graduating from Y Combinator in 2013, Fivetran has skyrocketed, consistently raising large sums of funding, including an Andreessen Horowitz-backed $565m Series D round in 2021.
Customers are mostly data analysts at companies with inefficient database schema, who suffer from a high risk of project failures. Fivetran offers rapid integration of complex data services into cloud warehouses, tagging onto the trend towards cloud-based data systems.
By developing and continuously improving cloud applications that adapt to changing APIs and data schemas, Fivetran is attracting customers who seek long-term data viability. Fivetran also benefits from being easy to set up and integrate into a client's existing software.
After acquiring HVR, a data integration competitor, and Teleport Data, Fivetran continues to add functionality and customers via acquisition. A round of funding in 2023 paved the way for expansion into European and Asian markets.
