Role
Who you are
- As an Entry-Level Software Engineer, you’ll bring strong technical foundations and a passion for learning, while developing into an expert in your chosen domain
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (C++, Python, TypeScript, or similar)
- Coursework, internships, or projects demonstrating knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and statistics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly
- Applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency
Desirable
- Experience from internships, research, or project teams (e.g., programming clubs, robotics, rocketry, or open-source contributions)
- Familiarity with embedded software, networking protocols, or hardware/software testing
- Exposure to cloud environments, distributed systems, or data pipelines
- Understanding of physics, orbital mechanics, or autonomous systems
- Interest in mathematical optimization, machine learning, or advanced algorithms
What the job involves
- Software Engineers at Muon build the systems that make it possible to design, test, launch, and operate constellations of satellites for a wide variety of missions
- Our engineers contribute to embedded flight software, physics simulations, customer-facing APIs and services, user interfaces, scheduling algorithms, data pipelines, computer vision, signal processing, and large-scale cloud systems
- You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to challenging problems and cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of new software capabilities for ground or space systems
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Collaborate with teammates to propose and iterate on software designs
- Conduct analysis to support both development and validation of systems
- Learn new technologies quickly and apply them effectively
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Deliver work reliably and on schedule
Our take
Developing and operating satellites represents a significant challenge. Many organizations need accurate, space-based data but lack the resources or expertise to build their own spacecraft or manage the necessary ground systems and data processing.
To tackle this issue, Muon Space provides a service called Muon Halo. This allows customers to access satellite data without having to handle the technical details of satellite construction or operation. Muon offers end-to-end solutions, including building and launching satellites, managing operations, and processing collected data.
Muon has contracts with major customers like the US Air Force and US Space Force, and it is set to launch ten satellites between 2025 and 2026. With financial backing, the company is ready to expand its services and meet the growing demand for space-based solutions.
