Who you are
- 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering experience
- Deep expertise in AWS services (EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM) and Terraform
- Production experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration

What the job involves
- Muon Space is leveraging our proprietary constellation of Earth-observation satellites to monitor and address climate change and growing customer needs, and we need a Software Platform Engineer to build the infrastructure that powers all of our engineering teams
- As a key member of our Software Platform team, you will design, implement, and maintain the reliable, scalable platform that enables our entire organization to deliver software efficiently and securely
- You'll be the force multiplier for our science and engineering teams, empowering them with modern cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices
- By creating world-class infrastructure and developer tools, you will directly accelerate our ability to deliver satellite systems and climate solutions
- Design and implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Terragrunt across different cloud platforms
- Design and deploy Bazel build infrastructure such as network caches and remote execution clusters to accelerate developer productivity
- Develop cloud cost visibility dashboards and self-serve budgeting tools for engineering teams
- Architect and operate AWS EKS clusters for production workloads
- Implement monitoring and observability solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, and InfluxDB
- Expand a growing private network infrastructure using Cloudflare Zero Trust and AWS transit gateway
Our take
Developing and operating satellites represents a significant challenge. Many organizations need accurate, space-based data but lack the resources or expertise to build their own spacecraft or manage the necessary ground systems and data processing.
To tackle this issue, Muon Space provides a service called Muon Halo. This allows customers to access satellite data without having to handle the technical details of satellite construction or operation. Muon offers end-to-end solutions, including building and launching satellites, managing operations, and processing collected data.
Muon has contracts with major customers like the US Air Force and US Space Force, and it is set to launch ten satellites between 2025 and 2026. With financial backing, the company is ready to expand its services and meet the growing demand for space-based solutions.
