Who you are
- Strong motivation to build empowered, excited, and productive engineering teams
- Solid understanding of Computer Science and Software Engineering fundamentals and processes
- Good understanding of current ML techniques and challenges with proven experience in building ML/LLM or other AI applications
- Motivated to keep up to date with new technologies and methods
- Past experience as a Senior or Staff Engineer
- Proven ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders, including senior leaders

- 4+ years of experience in senior or staff Engineering roles
- Expert in Python, familiar with ML related tools and libraries
- Experience in ML or AI oriented teams/roles
- Experience working with Data Scientists
- 1+ year in management position

- As an Engineering Manager at Crunchbase, you will play a crucial role in leading our engineering teams, the driving force behind the products and services relied upon by millions of users
- These teams focus on building a highly scalable platform and user experience, executing on the core features of the Crunchbase product vision
- Your responsibilities will center around leading, guiding, and motivating engineers on these teams to create powerful products with enduring value
- Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers, guiding their professional growth through clear expectations and regular feedback
- Collaborate closely with the recruiting team to attract top-tier talent, sharing the Crunchbase vision and fostering a culture that aligns with our values
- Engage with Product, Design, and Marketing stakeholders to ensure velocity and execution at a sustainable pace
- Work collaboratively with internal technical guilds to drive technical excellence goals, focusing on improving software quality and managing technical debt
- Cultivate a diverse and engaged team, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Instill a culture of innovation and excellence within the engineering organization
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Team Oversight: Directly supervise a team to oversee their day-to-day activities and ensure alignment with company goals and standards
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback to foster professional development and high-quality work
- Hiring and Training: Play an active role in hiring new team members as needed. Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in resolving any interpersonal or professional conflicts within the team, ensuring a positive and productive work environment
- Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, including managing work schedules, balancing workloads, and ensuring the team has the necessary tools and information to perform their roles efficiently
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Crunchbase is a platform that's designed for finding business information about public and private companies. This includes funding information, recent investments, leaders or founders, industry trends, and M&A news.
In addition to earning money via advertising, Crunchbase sells a range of products on a monthly basis, such as Crunchbase Pro and Crunchbase Enterprise, which allow users to run advanced searches of their database. Though it has competitors such as Owler, DealRoom and PitchBook, Crunchbase differentiates itself by covering a wider breadth of companies and having additional info on tech stacks and web traffic.
Crunchbase data is crowd-sourced, which means that people and companies enter data on themselves and others. This means that company info that is not widely available can be missed or added late, but despite these shortcomings, Crunchbase remains a premier spot for company information. Its latest round of funding will be used to grow its team as well as continue planned improvements, including the addition of enhanced machine learning-powered suggestions to the site.
