Who you are

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 5 years of web coding experience; or Masters of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineer or related field.
2+ years of coding experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, or C/C++
Knowledge of system design, REST API, and Microservice Architecture
Experience with Cloud infrastructure

Desirable

Experience working with Video Conference Applications, especially Video Conference App on Web Browser
Experience with any Video SDK such as Twillio, Vonage
Experience working on WebRTC Application

What the job involves

The Zoom SDK team performs SDK development for Zoom Meeting, Zoom Webinar, Dial In, Dial out, and in-meeting Chat
Our team is looking to bring on a Software Engineer who is passionate in the field. In this role, you will utilize your knowledge of front end Web application programming to contribute to Zoom SDK
Assist with building and maintaining Zoom SDK features/functions
Design and implement features to improve Zoom SDK products
Work closely with cross-functional teams to collect customer use cases and determine desired user experience
Connect with customers to understand their goals and needs and translate those into solutions the SDK team can deliver
Manage SDK package release
Triage critical customer issues and provide technical guidance for customer engagement
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the business to drive the delivery of features, processes and happiness

Our take

Zoom reworked video conferencing when most people assumed it was a solved problem, with services from Cisco and Skype already ubiquitous in workplaces and homes. However, its videoconferencing infrastructure was simpler to use, faster and more flexible than any previous solution, and it swiftly took the world by storm.

Its success bred competition, however, and companies such as Microsoft and Google, along with numerous smaller communications firms, have begun making inroads on Zoom's formerly commanding lead. Additionally, as workplaces are mostly adopting a hybrid or flexible working strategy, some of its importance as a workplace tool is wearing off and it is recording a gradual decline in daily usage rates.

To counter these trends, Zoom is expanding its business offerings through product development and strategic acquisitions. Alongside many other large tech companies, it has battled through a difficult economic situation, but it nonetheless remains a profitable company and household name. Plus, its track record of innovation means it is still very much one to watch in the communications space.
