Who you are
- This person is quantitatively driven, detail-focused, and operations-savvy while ensuring the best possible customer experience. This individual possesses a high level of subject matter expertise and is experienced in utilizing information generated from various data source to generate insights.
- This person will work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Engineers and Strategy teams to define efficient processes and help optimize various platform focused initiatives
- 4+ years of experience across payment, marketplaces, e-commerce, retail, digital media or financial services industries
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or relevant work experience
- Expertise in SQL, Python or other programming language to query data and perform analysis
- Have a bias towards action in resolving issues and perform in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Ability to execute projects independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills; Clearly articulate complex analysis through presentations and writing
- Ability to prioritize competing projects among departments, history of effectively working with multiple teams to build new capability and implement projects
- Effectively manage senior executive asks and provide written and verbal communication to them
- Ability to ‘Dive Deep’ with a structured approach to problem solving
- Excellent cross-group collaboration skills, ability to impact and influence outcomes in matrixed environment
- Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a rock-star to join a fast-paced environment to contribute to pay related analysis and operations. This individual is responsible for data driven deepdives for new and future pay products. The Payments Analyst will take ownership over multiple pay initiatives to understand business metrics, assess impact and provide recommendations to achieve team goals
- Establish business cases and projected ROI on investments to prioritize opportunities related to pay programs
- Deliver enhancements to pay team initiatives, communicate and prioritize development in collaboration with product management and engineering teams
- Support cross functional teams to build-out critical dashboards and tools to measure effectiveness of payment process, operations and new programs
- Collaborate with Product Management, Data Science, Engineering and Operations to resolve identity or integrity issues and other escalations
- Able to communicate complex information both verbally and in writing, effectively with audiences at every level, including executive leadership team, partners, and individual contributors
- Report overall status, primary business metrics, key issues and solution recommendations and plans to senior management and executives
Our take
Lyft has aimed for consistent growth, making sure to pitch itself as a more reliable and friendly ride-sharing option than its main competitor, Uber. Uber has a greater market share and operates globally, but Lyft hopes to compete by its focus on ride-sharing over Uber's more diversified business approach and as a more rider-friendly and greener alternative to Uber.
Operating only in the USA and Canada, Lyft is in a position of being less affected by global events than Uber but also more vulnerable to local conditions. As an example, while it doesn't face the regulatory hurdles around employment rights that Uber does, it is unable to balance out the cost of the unusually expensive US auto insurance across its operations.
In 2022, Lyft acquired PBSC Urban Solutions, a bike-share equipment and technology supplier, allowing Lyft to compete in new verticals and reaffirming its commitment to green transportation. It has also trialed and launched Lyft Assisted, where drivers help passengers from their door into the car to get to medical appointments. These developments chime well with Lyft's unique selling point as a friendlier and more environmentally aware ride-sharing app.
